Re: PingJunior: 60% PingMaster build

May I ask what type of solenoid you used in this picture here? I am interested in finding one for a Model F using the xwhatsit controller and it seems the IBM ones are tough to come by. Was hoping to find something compatible on eBay. Cheers! I got them from Taobao . And you can find them on ebay u...

Do the Omrons work int the SKCC plate? Or do they need a different one?
They are different, SKCC plate hole size is 14mm but Omron is 13.5mm.

My DC-2014 uses long white switchplate blue Alps, I think they sound better than grey switchplate ones.

Re: Alps Appreciation

Hokey smokes, Bullwinkle! Are those pre-Alps blues? Perhaps ForwarD Electronics? Pretty sure 'FD' means ForwarD Electronics. I don't think they are pre-Alps blues, some early blues have black switchplate, as far as I know. so to be clear, the only switches with the complicated switchplate are the o...

Really weird keyboard, I thought they were normal SKCM blues.
But most of them have 'FD' logo on the bottom! (not SKBM, grey switchplate)
Unfortunately, I thrown out the PCB yesterday, so no more useful information

Re: Alps Appreciation

Hey guys, I found a acer 6023 keyboard long ago and I have time to clean it today. I thought they were faded skcm blues but there are some bulges in the stem :o Remind me of gainsborough's KB-101A/TK So they are not faded blues? Any other ALPS stem like this? https://i.imgur.com/BGRncSg.jpg https://...

I tested the solenoid using a Xwhatsit solenoid driver and it works great. There is enough space for them in the plastic case.
The new version of PCB will be done very soon.

What do you think? Could something like this be workable?
If you use SKCC switches to do it, the top row keys will be really tall. How about Cherry low-profile switches?

Re: PingJunior: 60% PingMaster build

Wow, great work! Do the Alps stabilizers have enough clearance from the B3G-S switches? They are running smoothly, my few keys are overly thick for B3G-S (F, J, Spacebars). Most of alps caps should be fine. https://i.imgur.com/uFLUQEs.jpg Hell yes, very cool! Would def pick a PCB/plate up if you li...

That's really weird. So I will put them on TaoBao, maybe find a proxy can save y...

Hello guys. Some people are very interested in my new PingJunior build, so I decided to start a new topic here. Woahhhh!!!! That's so cool! What's it sound like?
I used FR-4 plate so it's pingless and I'm working on adding a solenoid or buzzer.
Switches are NOS from TaoBao, alpha keys feel great but I still need to lube multi wide keys to make them better.

Re: Do B3G-S switches fit into standard Cherry plates?

Cherry plates use 14mm*14mm hole size, 13.5mm*13.5mm will be fine for B3G-S according to specification. https://deskthority.net/w/images/f/f4/Omron_B3G-S_specification_1986.pdf I'm also working on a project about B3G-S switches and I can get two variants NOS B3G-S switches from Taobao.
