Re: Vintage Cherry G80-1134 HAX with dual keycaps

Interesting board with lovely keycaps. Looks like these ones and the German Zenith G80-1192 boards both have these versions with the Lösch keys. I think the German Zenith ones are HAX boards as well. I personally got a set of "Denglish" caps from a G80-1000 HBD but they have the normal Entf keys.

The original ones from G80-2000 and G80-2100 HA* and HB* boards. There are also newer ones made by GMK (eg for Cherry's KA1953 set).

Re: THE SORA COVER review — The best keyboard acrylic dust cover!

Wow, I totally missed this thread, thanks for bumping it with your update and for sharing your experiences. This looks like a very solid choice as a keyboard cover (as you mentioned it can be fairly difficult to find covers for vintage "oversized" boards or modern smaller boards). And it's even nice...

Looks fine to me, especially as it's only in one direction due to the "Walzrichtung". It adds to the industrial look, you could think that it's intended to look like this on the pictures.

Re: Topre Realforce R2 6-key rollover issue?

It's a software 'issue'. An input device over USB is always limited to 6kro, you can only reach higher kro when a keyboard controller works as multiple keyboards. So eg for 12kro over USB your board must register as 2 keyboards on your PC, for 18kro it's registered as 3 keyboards and so on. Looks li...

Re: ISO users

I personally don't really care whether my board is iso or ansi, I can get used to both. I mainly care that my board/layout is German. Most of my boards are normal iso-de but I also use and love my hhkb (but of course with German layout).

Re: Cherry appreciation topic

Once I am done with some stuff, I will post my Honeywell branded G80-0528. Well, it's not actually a G80-0528, it's a different model number on the PCB. I believe it was G80-0689? I also got a very interested unbranded Model F XT clone board. It's honestly very well built, with OG Cherry Doubleshot...

Looks like a very steep profile, not sure if that works well on modern boards which are rather flat.

It slightly reminds me of an HP computer but I will try and research more a bit later. Re: Yet another beamspring refurb (5251)

UV exposure can be the reason for yellowing but sometimes there are other reasons. It depends on the used plastic. On my Beamspring only engraved keycaps were yellowed, I don't think that peroxide would help then. I'd rather keep it the way it currently is instead of taking the risk

Re: Objective reasons for using a mechanical keyboard

p.s. I had a ready-to-produce CNC model (a copy of a very basic Korean case design) and asked a Chinese CNC factory to produce an aluminium case for me, the total cost including very decent anodizing was around $110 - we can see that Tofu cases at $88 is actually earning some money. If I know CAD a...

Re: Price Check: How much is my _____ worth?

It's super clean so you can probably get a bit more. These boards aren't really sought, especially in iso, but you always find some people who'll like them. I'd say it's worth up to 50€ for this one due to the condition but it really depends on whether you find an apple enthusiast or not.

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?

Even charging a keyboard once per week is rather troublesome compared to the ~ 3 months of the original hhkb bluetooth (which is pretty bad itself compared to "normal" keyboards which sometimes last over a year). Custom bluetooth software is sadly pretty bad so far.

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?

The battery time of the hasu controller sounds pretty horrible though. At that price I'd rather buy the original hhkb bt instead. Do we know whether the USB hub is the reason for the power draw? In that case there should be a noticeable difference between the Pro 1 and Pro 2 boards. I guess in the e...

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?

I'm mostly fine with the "missing" keys by now but sometimes I miss my right ctrl key. Especially with some chat software you might need ctrl+enter combos which always require two hands on an hhkb while you only need one hand for it on a "normal" board. The missing iso key is really unfortunate as i...

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?

There are some big issues of the hhkb jp for an iso user: - the zxc row is shifted by 0,25u and not standard (2u shift instead of 2,25u shift - no right shift key in a normal/usable position (unless you wanna use the 1u \ key as a shift key - no 2u backspace The later two things are obviously due to...

- Also Cherry, is it so hard to mount the switch on a plate instead on a PCB? They did that on old boards and they do that on some of their newer boards. But what's the point? I think that the pcb mount boards feel and sound way better than the plate mounted ones. Sure, they are a bit lighter compa...

You could get an anne pro as your first board. It's not super silent but you should get a decent entry level board that fits your budget and which can also be customized with other keycaps (which isn't that easy with the hhkb).
