The bubbly plastic on the SMK clones is too much gas in the mix. It isn't a product of worn molds. Most likely it's just the best product they could get on their machine with their materials. Worn molds are gonna show themselves in minor part shape defects or texturing. Warping could be caused by to...

We are talking minimal tooling costs here. Keyswitch molds would be so small they would be like inserts themselves, set into an aluminum block, which is then set into the press platen. They could have had tiny inserts for rotating a typesetting or changing a label, or they may have just changed out ...

Which is easier, selling one or two at a time on ebay, or raking in the cash on geekhack. Considering they won't have to pay ebay fees and they are charging 25$ for shipping, I'd say they are making out like bandits. As far as him saying he doesn't want resellers, well, I don't see any room for prof...

The simple answer on the yellowing is oxidation. Everything oxidizes and there are additives in plastic to prevent early yellowing due to oxidation, uv exposure, thermal breakdown, etc. We also don't know what environment the keyboard was used in. Was it exposed to fumes, dirty air, etc. I would loo...

Plastic can yellow as raw pellets in unopened gaylord bins. Some scientific mumbo jumbo linked. The differing blues on this board are likely parts that should have been discarded because the color wasn't fully changed from plastic white to the desired blue, or someone forgot to refill the color hopp...

Idk, Amazon has a couple reviews on this Intellimouse Classic that say the optical sensor just isn't up to par with the original. They may have tried too hard and not taken into consideration why the original was so well received.

The original 3.0's are rare NIB. One sold for $200 the other week. But, yeah you can get a used one for $20. You need a product number starting in X08. The silver cover with black buttons. The others are remakes. If they come up with a new one that compares to the original, that would be great.

Also, I found this funny. I googled customizable because the spellchecker underscores it, and this pops up.

cus·tom·iz·a·ble
adjective
able to be modified to suit a particular individual or task.
"a customizable keyboard designed with the gamer in mind"

I wasn't clear on what he is doing. His last sentence leads me to believe this ain't wire management. Anyway, yeah, hot glue if you are making a design with a lot of wires.

If you really need to use glue, use hot glue maybe? I second this, hot glue sounds perfect for you. That's what I was gonna say at first, till I realized he wanted the cables/wires outside of the case. How about using hot glue to adhere fasteners, or self adhesive fasteners. https://www.digikey.com...

If you try to circumvent the click and press it again, the key will have already gone into repeating mode because you held it down too long. The faster you let off the key, the faster you can press it again.

I sure wouldn't use acetone. Why not use cable management instead of glue... Look up some parts at digikey.

I've worked at an injection molding plant making industrial shipping containers. You make a lot of bad parts due to bubbling, warping, color changes, and the machines in general needing lots of tweaking. I would imagine if pbt is so sensitive to variables you would need a skilled tech that knows the...

I would just solder in a new switch and call it good, sell it on ebay, and buy a different board. You aren't going to find a compatible case for that funky layout. Cutting the ten key off would mean cut traces on the pcb. Changing leds would also likely be way more work than you would want to do on ...

Eating the cost of these caps is pref...
