Re: Beamspring Factory process - How to

Maybe you could mark, or even cut the parts using the same process as with the old fashioned handmade PCB's. Toner printing or something similar over the sheet you want to cut and then give it a bath in a hot acid or salt like ferric chloride. Maybe the second part is inviable because of the sheet t...

Re: Univac Keyboard (Micro Switch)

Just a couple of updates. I've still been unable to get TMK working with the "pulse" type switches. I think the pulse it gives off is just too brief and is getting filtered out by the firmware or something. I've not ventured deep into the belly of TMK to see if this is actually correct. I've just b...

I had a Wheelwriter with pretty much the same keycaps. Maybe this thing was adapted to be used with some kind hybrid between a typewriter and a computer.

I notice they are not flat, but we need to make them this way? Maybe cutting squares from a sheet will work as good as these non-flat feet.

It's not common nor iconic anyway. I can make a stone statue, unique in the world, but it will not be worth if nobody wants it and not all people want this keyboard. It's all about offer and demand. Time will show you how wrong is that price.

All I found was adapters from C64 keycaps to Cherry ones. Let me know if you find something, I'm in a similar situation.

I thought it might be SMK inverse cross mount because it has a similar bottom row profile, but couldn't find an exact match. What makes you so sure it's not BTC?
Well, the blue Alt keycaps and the ramp style wrist rest, also the single unit Esc key. Unfortunately I think it was sold.

Can I stabilize a key using two Cherry switches?

Hello guys. I'm building a keyboard with what I call a "hot swappable layout" and I want a 2U key that can be separated into two keys, is this possible without have a bad feel?

Re: Low profile Beamspring project

Oh man, tell me this will be mass produced. I love the beamspring switches so much that after two days of using a model F 122 I had to go back to my 3101.
Do you think your design will have important differences in feel? I would definitely build my endgame keyboard with them if not.

Not really sure what you are doing wrong but if it helps this is how I clamped my keyboard for the reassembly see the attached image That's interesting, you use C-clamps. I think I'll buy some of those and give them a try. You have to be very careful with them, I damaged my plates a bit using C cla...

Re: Univac Keyboard (Micro Switch)

I just remembered a thread I started about converting hall effect switches to normal close/open switches via extra hardware. The conclusion was the following: If you connect the pulse output from the switch (which sends one pulse to close and other to break) to a T flip-flop, and the output of the f...

As far as I know, every SD switch is considered unable to be opened without permanently damage it. This can be a great discovery. Besides the huge amount of technical data exposed in this thread, how do they feel?

Didn't IBM chrome-plated the backplate of the portable XT's? I'm only saying if you want to be more accurate with it. Paint will work perfect anyway.

Interestingly, it was patented a year after the beamspring. I don't know of any keyboard with that kind of switches.

Thank you Fohat, the trick worked with the spacebar stabilisers - but I haven't been successful with the smaller ones. I have some M122 keycaps which I don't mind using.
Try to put the enter stabilizer, is the only key that gave me problems with the model M keycaps.

Re: The "I don't know" keyboard w/ "beats me" switches

I guess you put the middle membrane that separates the rows and the columns under the other two membranes, that causes all the keys to be electrically pressed. Membranes are not double-sided so you don't need to isolate them from the backplate.
