Re: Before and after of the 12 USD IBM model F 122

Lol, that lovely legends. Wasn't that keyboard overpriced on Ebay? First time I used some C clamps that damaged the plates a bit, even with a thick piece of cloth. I ended using like 20 spring clamps with some pieces of rubber to avoid more damage. Then I hammered the upper plate with a hammer and a...

Re: Before and after of the 12 USD IBM model F 122

The battleships have a little bit looser feel and sound compared to the XT and the AT. I preffer the feeling of my XT with the 3mm EVA but this bad guy is impossible to close with that thick piece of foam. Anyway isn't bad, the keyboard feels consistent and the barrels are well pressed.

Good luck!

Re: Is there any kind of Macintosh Plus-like modern keycaps?

With M110-like I mean similar looking keycaps, not just compatible. I think I will use some keycaps from my Televideo TS803 until I finish my other project which involves that keyboad.

Re: When you finally reach endgame.

That keyboard looks amazing! I have to say, apart from the giant price tag of Beamspring keyboards putting me off, I don't think they sound that great either. The spacebar is rattly and doesn't have a thick sound to it like a good Model F does. Plus, of course, they don't ping - which is one of my ...

Here it says 2mm but it isn't, I measured the sheet with a digital caliber. Sorry for the potato audio.

Re: Before and after of the 12 USD IBM model F 122

I'm using a homemade converter, but should be the same as the ones from Orihalcon. Because I don't have any DIN 45322 port I just joint the cable from my broken XT to the connector that goes directly inside the keyboard (they are not the same). At the end you will have something like this: https://m...

Wait, what converter are you using? Doesn't the keyboard speak Set 3?
A normal Soarer's converter. Yes, the keyboard speaks SET 3. If you have to replace the foam, mine is working with 1.5mm EVA.

Re: When you finally reach endgame.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think most of the beamspring hating club didn't used a beamspring for at least a week. When I got my first model F I thought it didn't feel so great, but after a fair time using it I started to like it (anyway my heavy typing makes me feel it almost linear sometimes). ...

If I understand well, could be with the solenoid on. I usually play games that require a lot of keyboard spamming and I don't notice any problems.

Re: Before and after of the 12 USD IBM model F 122

Yeah, I worked with various converters already. What I did is measure the the continuity of the pins inside the plugs to the cables themselves and weld the original PCB connector to my IBM XT cable, like simulating a normal AT connector. I will check if I messed the connections in somewhere or just ...

I tried the Selectric. The travel feels way too long to use it as a normal keyboard. Anyway should be really cool have one of those evil bizarre hybrids.

Re: When you finally reach endgame.

It's okay, everyone is different. At least to me, it has te most natural click and tactile feedback ever made, and the bump is lovely. The only big problem in my 3101 is the lack of a proper left alt.
I like to dream big, so my endgame would be a custom beamspring or a modded 4978.

Also stock beamsprings don't have a very slow scan rate or something like that? I remember that Chyros was complaining about something like that in his first beamspring review.

Dont' worry, I will. I can confirm it's a model F because of the metal backplate. and the rusty spots under the keycaps.

What would be a fair price for this Olympus Fujitsu N860-2500-t111 03a? I really want it but the seller is asking for 100 bucks and that sucks.
