Stearns Computer keyboard low profile Linear Micro Switch

Recently picked up this board based on a photo provided by the ebay seller that it may have Micro Switch SC because of having a spring in the switch stem. This spring is not present on the rubber dome verients and the keycaps have the same font and style as used in the ITT Courier 1700 where the SC ...

The keycap mount would also fit onto honeywell hall effect switches, seems this keycap mount was the mx of its day in that multiple manufacturers used the same mount despite the switches themselves being very different.

Re: Handwired + Teensy + QMK = Confused

That is almost the perfect board for replacing the controller in given it is mostly single sided and also has diodes so you will not have the keypress limit and also should have a fairly logical order. What i find helpful is to draw the layout of the board itself and the connections to the old contr...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYSWITCH thread

looks like it is just conductive pad that would then bridge the two plates on the pcb rather then being resistive in any way its just substituting the foam and foil that is in most cases not very durable with a pad that bridges two plates on the pcb that is not going to degrade

I have the previous version, the HK96 and even though i have been able to power on and check that the keyboard should function getting it to work over ps/2 is my difficulty though i do accept that it could be the settings on the keyboard that are wrong however as there is no documentation for these ...

Re: Switch identification on an old calculator

hmm the keycap mount along using the external coil spring would suggest to me that it is some form of foam and foil switch however without seeing the back of the keyboard pcb there is no way to be sure

Thank you for that, managed to flash the board and get it into safe mode :) now i have the seemingly impossible task to get the keys registering which is going to take a few hours to do. i may need to look at replacing the magnet wire i have used possibly with shielded wire to reduce interferance

Sorry, I don't really exist here - I'm summoned by PMs and couple topic's notifications and miss a lot of things. Interesting - matrix PCB completely devoid of active components. I did remove the capacitor that was connected to that pin.

Re: [Done] CommonSense: matrix LCR meter with a HID interface

do the 3 capacitors need to be desoldered if having only 8 rows for mag valve? I am getting an error when connecting the dev board after soldering on the rows/columnns as well as the references so is that why the capacitors need to be removed?

Rows start at R0 on the picture however columns start at C1. Am i right to assume that C1 should be C0 and so on?

I would be quite willing to solder and build a kit for you for free if you were to supply it, assuming it is just putting a build together that is a problem. Though I will repeat that you would gain so much from coming to a meetup and trying a small selection of what the wider community has to offer...

Re: Key Communications Keyboard Coating On Traces Coming Off Help

you can still desolder the chips just do not take the coating off beyond that. Actually looking at it again all the traces going to the keyboard are on the opposite side so the traces you have shown will not be connected to the teensy anyway

Re: Key Communications Keyboard Coating On Traces Coming Off Help

try not to scratch too much off as it exposes the traces underneeth which could be a problem if you get shorts due to teh traces being exposed.

probably conformal coating protecting against moisure or dirt etc; as long as the traces are fine it shouldn't matter

Re: Could use some help with reverse engineering a typewriter PCB, for use with a Pro Micro and QMK.

as all the double action switches are linked together it would mean only being able to have one action for all of them, which is why i said it would better to isolate them by cutting the traces and wiring them up separately, unless i am not understanding your proposal

Re: Could use some help with reverse engineering a typewriter PCB, for use with a Pro Micro and QMK.

i think all that would have done is changed the repeat rate for those keys, so they would put out the same character just at a faster rate. You can cut the traces on the pcb for the second action and then wire the pins manually to the controller as a separate column that way you would be able to use...
