Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

Got my Industrial Gray F77 keyboard! Is another review necessary? No, but here's one anyway. Only one keycap came pre-installed; the spacebar. I did have to press it about a dozen times before it would spring back reliably. But after that, I was pleased to find that both the hardware and the firmwar...

Re: Help with New Model F77 on a MAC — Cmd not working right

I personally would recommend against complicating things with Karibiner-Elements… I'd completely uninstall it and just use System Prefs "Modifier Keys…" I've never seen the System Prefs swapping approach not work, when used in isolation. That said, the "right" way to swap the keys would be to reprog...

Glad to hear it! I'm all about necro-posting :)

I recently learned of a "TracXcroll" kickstarter that supposedly does the same thing: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bi ... e-scroller

Yeah… black keyboards are cool, but I think they look bad when paired with gray-background keycaps.

I've read that it's difficult to put white legends onto black keycaps with dye sublimation. So I think they used to essentially paint the legends on, and they tended to wear off over time.

Re: Where do you guys store your keyboards?

Repurposing a bakery cooling rack is a great idea… did you have it shipped? I built shelving out of wood. The shelves consist of two flat boards (each subdivided from a single long board) glued together along their long axis. L-brackets connect the shelves to four vertical 2×2's. keyboard shelf.jpg ...

Re: has the trackball landscape changed in any way lately?

The trouble with "scroll mode switch" is that it hurts your hand after extensive use. I don't know any cases where you need to move the mouse pointer and scroll at the same time, but it's fun to do! I have rigged-up an old Logitech Marble Trackball "Mouse" with Hasu's TMK USB to USB converter hardwa...

matt3o, if you do design a trackball, how about replacing the scroll wheel with a scroll ball?

Re: Unicomp SSKs are coming later this year

Last year I got a Unicomp Classic 104 White Buckling Spring PS2 with the custom 103 key mod. It's attractive and extremely crisp to type on. It doesn't have the weird plate covering up the area where the optional trackball button would have gone. Full disclosure: it's really more beige than white an...

If they're from a Matias Pro keyboard with the Mac option symbol legends, then I'd be interested in the keycaps.

USB Input Device Remixes

I thought it might be fun to remix USB signals from existing input devices into "new" ones. I used Hasu’s great TMK USB to USB converter hardware ( https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=69169.0 ). I also adapted his tmk_keyboard firmware by adding another converter directory and one tiny, opt-in edit...

You can hack Compose key functionality into macOS without any special extensions: http://www.webaugur.com/computers/58-mac-sun-keyboard.html I find it useful for quickly entering some special characters that I can't remember the option combo for, or that don't have one. On my trusty 101-key Model M ...

Unicomp seems to offer a lot of parts & other stuff that aren't listed on their website. I'd contact them. I like Unicomp keyboards a lot, and I agree that 1.25U bottom row modifiers are best. But I'm not a fan of the Spacesaver M in particular because I don't like that I have to hold down Fn to use...
