The MassDrop-is-evil tangent, while interesting, was a distraction in a thread that was trying to focus on supporting the Ergodox project. That thread finally got split as requested: http://deskthority.net/marketplace-f11/ergodox-massdrop-groupbuy-discussion-t5085-510.html ...but only after Dox had ...

FWIW to you guys, I threw this together last year as I happen to be repairing an M at the time. It's not totally complete and the pics aren't great, but most of it is there: http://wiki.geekhack.org/index.php?title=Modifications:IBM_Model_M:Nut_and_Bolt_Mod There is also this, that I re-made from th...

Everything appears to be in order. It's a pity that the standard SPH kit does not have the 1-unit "0" and "+" for the num pad like all of the other standard kits. I did not notice this at the time. Oh well. They are nice to type on and look good. They would be even better if they were textured. 8-)

My order arrived today. I was a little surprised, since you said you were waiting for NIOR replacement tab keys. I still have to go through them, but thanks!

Re: Smartphone wanted / but don't know which :-(

I think Nexus edition means that it will get the newest android release as fast as other nexus devices directly from google. All "Nexus Edition" means is that the interface is relatively close to stock Android and the device is unlocked. The software and upgrades will come from Samsung. Will it com...

Since the topic of classifieds forum policies at GeekHack has been brought up in this thread a couple of times now by a few different people, I thought I'd mention that this has been discussed on the forum and a thread was started asking for community feedback. Wow, this went from a boilerplate GH bashing thread to anti-U.S. bigotry (classy) and finally to Stalin. Not quite Godwin's law, but you certainly go through the motions.

Nice. Taken as a ratio of the number of registered members, that is pretty good.

If we make assumptions about matching user ID's between the two sites, we could probably get a rough idea of the size of the "active" community.

Re: GH-moderation strikes again!

If I add Norway and Switzerland then we are 102 ! :-) 262-100-102=60 from East Asia, and other American countries. 28 from East Asia, 18 from Korea alone! Does this include all of the people that dropped out? Are you trying to figure out the demographics of the active members of the keyboard commun...

It's honestly a relief to hear this acknowledged. You're quite right: I haven't evidence of this happening especially recently. Bit rot shouldn't be happening in this day and age. Not on open internet forums with a viable user base. But at GH, for whatever reason, it still does. Good stuff just goes away. As far as I am aware, we haven't lost anything since the site was relaunched last year. Prior to that, there were some p...

The arrow lines in Round 3 where too thick. Now, they made them extra thin. They definitively have zero feeling for aesthetics! Can't argue that. The downside of the thin lines is that the text apears darker and the contrast is lower, so the legends are not so visible as they should. When ypou rece...

Wouldn't we have had then had to pay legend fees for all of those? You should have just had them made with the small cutter so they would at least be consistent. :? This sort of nonsense is one of the reasons for the Cherry Replica Legend project. We'll have full control over each one, as they are a...

Everything pointed out so far is pretty typical of SP using the Wyse legends. Most of the legends are crammed way to the left. Especially the keys in CamelCase like modifiers and the nav cluster. The tab key is an exception and has been brought up in the past. If you choose their normal Tab legend t...

My "little pieces of plastic" comment was not in the best of taste, so I apologize for that.
