Re: Are there any benefits to having a mechanical keyboard if you're not a heavy gamer or aren't a power user

I wouldn't say I'm a power user, i don't work from a computer a lot of the time and if I do it's workshop based so putting a 500$ keyboard in amongst the dust would turn my stomach. However when I do use a computer I want it to be a comfortable experience with a nice keyboard. I think of it like buy...

More specifically, with "durable" do you mean "dust-resistant" or "not likely to fail"?

Kailh box switches being the most resistant, also to water.

Outemu dust proofs have a resistance to dust as the name might suggest :D

Re: Modern Beamspring? - The Silo Beam Switch

I am puzzled why they compromise their design with legacy constraints like the Cherry body pattern and stem design, when the latter is identified as making the unit taller than it needs to be. It appears to be an admission that the keycap tail is wagging the dog and resulting in a lesser design. Yo...

Re: KeyClack Topre Silencing Rings v2

@St0ckz: Thanks for the ring IDs. Wow, if I do say so myself, the Keyclack V2 rings appear to be rather crudely cut. Now I don't feel quite so bad about the rather extreme cost differential! On the other hand, if they work well, I suppose they don't need to look pretty. It will be interesting to se...

Re: Why can't modern Mechanical keyboard build like Northgate Omnikey?

There's more to keyboards than OEM now and from yesteryear. Custom keyboards are a direct reaction to wanting higher quality keyboards as well as wanting a certain degree of customization. Highly disagree with "aluminium keyboards make everything sound bad" where in fact low profile style cases are ...

Box switches YIKES , sound bad and destroy your caps, the solution to which is to REBUY "fixed" box switches... can't lube them, the royals click after some use, the other tactiles are linear, half the selling point was low wobble but they wobble just as much as cherry, the only half decent thing ar...

MX style switches are realistically the only option for the vast majority in this hobby, like it or not, that's the current reality. Admittedly, I don't understand it either. However, that doesn't mean it doesn't have a place. If you don't like something, don't buy it. If you do like it that's great.. people do themed builds all the time customising every part the way they want it. Laserboost, when it's all said and done is the b...
