Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Saw this in a "viral" video stop motion of a man eating his previous keyboard.

Anybody got an idea as to what this board may be?

Re: Adapting P70 Keyboard to PS/2

You confirmed with the continuity tester that each of the colors from the keypad cord correspond with those positions in your ps2 pinout image? I'll keep thinking but nothing is jumping out at me immediately. Do you have a teensy? Soarer's simple logic analyzer would be a good tool to test with if ...

Can you post the ps2 pinout picture you referred to in the OP?

Re: Adapting P70

The first thing to check would be is it getting (enough) power? Do you have a multimeter? Open up the keyboard and look for all of the ICs (chips). Use your multimeter to measure the voltage by touching the probes to the pins indicated in the picture. https://i.imgur.com/BHzGaH8.png Each one should...

Adapting P70 Keyboard to PS/2

Hello. Recently I came across a P70 keyboard which I hoped to easily convert to PS/2. However, it turns out to not be as easy as is reported by every single post on here. I spliced up a Fellowes Keypad, which had wires of orange, red, brown, and black color. My friend tested for continuity, and two ...

Re: Help adapting the NCR 4950

There's always the possibility I borked this damn thing into a Kentucky fried paperweight when I was feebly attempting to adapt it to PS2 earlier. What should I do now? I thought the pinouts were correct. I don't want this thing going to waste, I got it NOS. Next best thing I can think is completely...

Re: Help adapting the NCR 4950

So I made one last effort to adapt this without completely removing the IC. My friend helped me resolder some shoddy jumpers of mine and remove certain resistors and capacitors to match theinversekeys pcb. After wiring the teensy, we got stuck on the fact that the keyboard would power on, but not se...

It is possible that you may need to switch the jumpers on the inside.
I tried every combination that was possible outside of vcc and sgn grnd, nada :(

Re: Soarer's Keyboard Controller firmware

So I've been trying to use soarers firmware on the NCR 4950, however whenever I use HID listen the board is listing itself as PC/XT, despite the fact the keyboard is supposed to be AT. Also, the HID listen is kicking out error code wEE and remainder fffc. Does anyone know what that could mean?

Re:

No but really if you desolder the IC on it and replace it with a Teensy++ 2.0, you'd have a fully programmable keyboard. And there's no chance of frying the board because, well, there's nothing to fry! So, my friend found a pinout for the original IC online. Would we theoretically just match the pi...

Re: Help adapting the NCR 4950

So, I haven't yet given up this project. The whole wiring a PS/2 cable is out the window, though. I'm considering replacing the IC altogether. However, I'm unsure if my testing on this board borked it all together.

You're welcome :D So... What was the problem? As for the second, I'm not sure: broken rivets causing the spring or flipper to misbehave? Contamination inside the barrel causing additional friction? Turns out the stabilizer somehow got off it's track :s I'm guessing it could be either of those. I me...

Remove the C, V, comma, and period keys to reveal the tracks in which the stabilizer wire engages. Remove the left Alt key as well, it may simply be that the wire is unclipped from the bottom of the spacebar. If that's not it, remove more of the adjacent caps to see if there's anything visible from...

Model M binding on the spacebar

Hey again, Is there any way to fix binding on the spacebar? I'm not sure of the state of the stabilizer on the board i just received. I can see it moving with the spacebar, but it doesn't seem to stabilize the left side. Which is pretty unfortunate for me as I use my left thumb to hit the spacebar m...

I'm starting to think I should just delegate these projects to other people... Whenever I touch things like this they just turn to trash. I'm like the Midas of breaking keyboards I swear

The guy off Reddit pointed out that I had the correct wiring, and said I likely fried the board. What do I do now?

FK-2001 6 PIN DIN to PS2

Hey again. Despite the fact I still haven't quite finished a bunch of other keyboard projects, I still managed to stumble across more boards...
