Re: Recreating the Lisp keyboard (10 years later)

I am working on a snug fit wrist rest as well in the same design. Still testing the variants before I get it done in the proper color. Here's what I have so far:

And here's the SpaceCadetSpaceSaver how I imagined it :) Keycaps: NOS Blue Alps except for Space which has a White NOS Alps PCB: Used Alps64 as baseline and modified it heavily for USB-C and switch placements Switch Plate: 1.2 mm Stainless Steel Plate, lasercut And of course: Keymacs keycaps (custom...

Re: Recreating the Lisp keyboard (10 years later)

But what’s a poor man doing buying a thousand dollar keyboard? ;) I’ve stabilised 2 and 4 unit keys that way on an Access-IS ortho keyboard and it really doesn’t work well at all. You get a seesaw, not a stabilised key. It really put me off using boards like that. Stabs contribute a lot to the over...

Wow factor - I am working on the case at the moment. Everything is a beautiful piece of art (despite my crude case work).
I'll post the final results when all has arrived...

Re: Recreating the Lisp keyboard (10 years later)

That swoopy case is actually pretty cool. Maybe it’s the whole monochrome thing: it gives me vintage sci-fi vibes. Hard disagree on the spaaaaaaaaaaaaacebar though. But maybe if you split it… ;) Real talk: my fingers expect my modifiers, especially Command, to be much closer to the centre of the ke...

Re: Recreating the Lisp keyboard (10 years later)

Just to talk about a 60% variant - I have been working on 6 or 7 variants already and been using them also in my daily rotation. I have been working with lispnick on gettings things into a working configuration and what I came up with was a traditional 60% but with a huge Space Bar and some other mo...

Re: Recreating the Lisp keyboard (10 years later)

I tested my (potentially) ultimate layout on paper and then later on a self made 3D printed reproduction.
I have attached the very early sheet of my tests below. It is the original size and I played around with it quite a bit.

Re: Recreating the Lisp keyboard (10 years later)

I have had the pleasure to use the Keymacs since a few weeks so far. I used it heavily during my work - and I have goose bumps each time I type. In short, the pleasure I have had with it over the last weeks (and actually even before that, when I had my conversations with lispnick about what my ultim...

Re: Recreating the Lisp keyboard (10 years later)

Yesterday, I received the below keyboard (green linear alps in combination with blue clicky alps). The layout is very unique to my workflow and I am more than thankful for the amount of work and dedication keymacs has put into it. The quality of the keyboard is extraordinary. The sound is mind blowi...

Re: Beam Spring 104+SSK Reproduction Project! First Batch In Stock, Shipping early next year after New Model F Project

... I'm wondering if anyone has the same issue as me. Two beam spring round 1 modules has failed in the same way so far in a span of a few weeks. The keys over time get stuck because the fly plate at the bottom gets creased. I only have mine since 3 full days, so I can't give any factual feedback o...

Re: Beam Spring 104+SSK Reproduction Project! First Batch In Stock, Shipping early next year after New Model F Project

... Nice discovery - did you try costar stabs with the space bar? As the space bar is already perfectly stabilized, I didn't do anything there, but I don't see any reason, why it shouldn't work in the same way. The cutouts are the same and the length of the standard stab wires are fitting the cutou...

Re: Beam Spring 104+SSK Reproduction Project! First Batch In Stock, Shipping early next year after New Model F Project

Just wanted to share that I found out that the Costar stabilizers work perfectly with the larger keys (>= 1.75U) and I have added them to the respective keys with great success. There is no modification required and fit just right in the cutouts of the top switch plate. The top hook of the costar st...

Re: Beam Spring 104+SSK Reproduction Project! First Batch In Stock, Shipping early next year after New Model F Project

All the keys seemed to work fine on my round 1 BSSK apart from the odd-feeling spacebar. I opened it up to play and soon needed to refit 4 key modules as the fly plates fell off. I did finally get the knack of refitting the fly plates by watching your setup video. The follow-ups you posted with bet...

For those who received their Round 1 board, how was your beam spring setup experience? I have not received too much feedback so far since they just started going out a few weeks ago. How many modules broke in shipping and needed replacement? How much time did it take to set it up? Any other challen...

Re: Recreating the Lisp keyboard (10 years later)

This is the best sounding Alps keyboard I have ever seen/heard, and from what I am understanding, the sound is mostly due to the thick polyurethane keycaps. If you ever decide to make a version of this keyboard in a traditional layout, or if the standalone ANSI keyset works out, I will buy it in a ...

It is a tough one - even if you buy out the current domain/content the real tragedy is the management and cost going forward. Even as kind of a club, you need to have constant inflow of money. I love this!!! Tool-wise, the woodworking station has an old Swedish carp...

25 days left to support. It already has reached (easily) the funding minimum, so it will be produced.
Have a look at the kickstarter page mentioned above. Spread the word when you can, I think it is a book worth supporting.

I also like the design. They look different compared to the zeitgeist. Many designs of mechanical keyboards these days play only with frame edges, illumination color and so on, but fear to dive deeper. I like designs that are appealing and stand out but still have function.

Not least on Halloween. 🧛🏻‍♂️ The keyboard I have in mind is my blue Alps 60%: a Hasu Alps64 PCB in a Poker sized silver Lambo case.
