Re: Post a picture of your ideal keyboard layout!

I realize that I have posted in this topic atleast twice already but this community keeps coming out with nice layouts. I tried an Alice at the Columbus meetup and fell in love. I struggle with 60 percents but this layout was beautiful for me 274e646f08a4d1c397bd19b578721685.jpg Now affording one to...

Re: Let's make the worst layout ever!

But it's true that ortholinear keyboard layout *is* considered more ergonomic than staggered, so it doesn't matter if 99% of computer users don't feel familiar with it, when first put in contact with such a keyboard. So Chyros, you do deserve a bit of bashing there :P "Since I can't type on this, i...

Nice? That's as anorexic as an ISO Enter key gets... probably not unlike the model hired for the photoshoot.

Heck, I think the Backspace key is 1.25U wide... that would be a first! (we've seen plenty of 1U on BAE keyboards and of 1.5U on "compact" 14.5U keyboards, but not 1.25U units)

constexpr confirmed you and Zed are correct split left shift is Icon only by default, to keep in line with the Model M ISO layout.

Updated on the key requirements counts.

Re: Tell me about your experience with dome boards

45g topre is the best domes ive tried. I tried Scorpius dome with slider and it felt absolutely awful. BTC dome with slider felt decent but not as good as topre as well. 55g topre is a tad too heavy and tactile for me, and 30g topre is nice but not something i'd daily drive. 45 is the absolute best....

Re: Post the ugliest keyboards you've seen!

Wow, haven't seen this thread for months now. But I pulled this board out today and it looks no where as cool as I remember it. In fact, I gotta nominate it here: https://i.imgur.com/VBuPLT5.jpg I mean it's got nice components. The keycaps are super unique and it has the coveted creams. But typing ...

Re: Regarding the Cherry G80-2511 and the Kaihl Box switches

People like these things that much? I've been consistently underwhelmed by Cherry boards, they are frighteningly lightly built and the switches aren't much to write home about. It's not like I would do anything destructive like those dickheads who chop the numpad off IBM boards or put RGB lighting ...

Re: Regarding the Cherry G80-2511 and the Kaihl Box switches

To add to what I said earlier, you got the box switches from ebay so it's harder to tell if they've actually been retooled or not, as it's from a rnadom ebay seller not a trusted source (I assume atleast) so my suggestion is to keep the board the way it is and sell off or cancel the order on the box...

No. Do not put fucking box switches into a g80. We've had atleast 3 threads on why this is a bad idea.

The left-side numpad and the supranumpad cluster need some work.
Sorry... I added the extra 4 keys to the tip of the numpad at the last second. I refuse to put another key above esc tho. Sorry

Re: WTB Amiga 2000

I think there are other keyboards much more suitable for harvesting switches. People get these for it being a mechanical Amiga keyboard or for harvesting the keycaps, before they think of the switches. I regret that I once bought only the set of keycaps from a forum member instead of the whole keyb...

Re: Kailh Switch Series, which one is your favorite?

That's Stockholm Syndrome at it's best. Innovation isn't an excuse for pathetic QC and selling products as "MX compatible" when they are really not is CLEARLY Kailhs fault. It's just shows how little they care about specifications, testing, quality control and actual compatibility. The larger stems...

Heck, why don't we do a group buy for a luggable with a nice Alps keyboard? Like the IBM 5140 but with modern hardware. We are already doing tons of custom cases so why not take it up a notch? Organizing gbs for a keyboard is already painful, i dont think such a niche hobby could do that for a comp...
