Re: "NOS" Chicony 5581 with Cherry MX Whites?

Hi guys, I think I may be the first one to document this, but I found a white clicky MX-type switch in a Chicony 5581 I recently bought. I initially thought they were Cherry MX Whites, but they don't appear to have Cherry branding, so I'm not sure if these are clones are not. Can anyone confirm wha...

Only thing I can really appreciate about them is their looks , they look nice as hell.

I think they serve better as background keyboards in movies than something I'd use daily but YMMV

Re: Post a picture of your ideal keyboard layout!

How about pretty much all other word processors, pretty much every text editor, and even Excel itself? This being my fantasy layout, as it were, I get to decide :-) Seriously, the whole point of custom keyboards is, well, just that: "One size fits all" is not good enough, since everybody's needs an...

Re: Why are Vintage Cherry mx Black Switches so Smooth?

Most of the fancy switches you see people putting on their custom boards are shiny and new, but some of the most sought-after switches are older than the people typing on them mypremiercreditcard . Id much rather use retooled or vintage blacks over "tealios" or whatever recolor linears gateron shit...

No-frills fullsize ANSI Alps keyboard.
Alps interest is already pretty small and a fullsize interest is even smaller and combined makes a very tiny market of people wanting a fullsize custom Alps board. Couldn't imagine enough people for a factory to care about it

Re: Nexus Cherry MX-compatible Alps sliders (+SA keycap typing test on SKCM blue!)

Neat idea but I think the time and effort could have been put into new Alps keycaps. Easier said than done, but I also agree. Worst aspect of Alps is that you either have to use shit ass caps or hope for some rare board to have nice caps. There's not enough interest for a company to make Alps mount...

WTB OG Cherry Iso left shift

Looking for a black on beige iso left shift, preferably from a G81 SAD set, will also settle for doubleshots but would much prefer dyesub left shift. I know this is ultra specific and not many people are willing to split so I will also accept offers of trashed SAD sets missing keys ( with the left s...

Re: BOX switches

I wish people would just stop fucking about with the notches to generate tactility. As I noted in my review of the BOX Royals, they feel good, it's just crazy that they had to resort to a bump THIS big in order to make a notch switch actually feel tactile. And now, as a side effect, they can't keep...

Any chances for a non backlit version? Dont really mind it myself, but having the option would be nice :)
It's really unfortunate that kailh would go with a transparent housing like this. Transparent housings instantly ruin the sound of switches

But it's true that ortholinear keyboard layout *is* considered more ergonomic than staggered, so it doesn't matter if 99% of computer users don't feel familiar with it, when first put in contact with such a keyboard. So Chyros, you do deserve a bit of bashing there :P "Since I can't type on this, i...

Nice? That's as anorexic as an ISO Enter key gets... probably not unlike the model hired for the photoshoot.

Heck, I think the Backspace key is 1.25U wide... that would be a first! (we've seen plenty of 1U on BAE keyboards and of 1.5U on "compact" 14.5U keyboards, but not 1.25U units)
