Re: Post a picture of your ideal keyboard layout!

I thought would bring back alive this wonderful thread :) For a while now I've been thinking about layout with numpad positioned left side. These so called "southpaw" keyboards exist but I have yet to see one that actually pleases me. They have redundant navigation keys, lack function row or have we...

Re: EnjoyPBT Keycaps?

Another thing with EnjoyPBT (and I guess this is relatively minor issue since I don't hear much complains about this) is their scooped homing keys tend to interfere with the switch housing when bottoming out. There's no noticeable difference in feeling or travel but you can definitely hear the extr...

Ergodox could be cool but feels a bit too big of a commitment for me. For now at least.

Re: ISO users

I prefer ANSI but with the Nordic layout. ANSI because I like the more easily reachable enter and left-shift keys and the more symmetrical look. Also, I feel like my left little finger isn't really dexterious enough to differentiate the z and the extra key we get with ISO from each other resulting i...

Re: Post a picture of your ideal keyboard layout!

I feel like palm (or side of it) is the only way to reach the bottom-left-corner ctrl. These days I use the HHKB-style (or wherever it originated from) control position with my pinky. That's a helluva lot easier to use.

Re: How about splitting the space bar, with equal-sized symmetrical halves?

This is a pretty good idea in a 60% layout, where it does solve the pressing need of having the Fn layers easily accessible (and for which I've proposed in the past to have Fn keys on both sides). It's not as pressing of a need in a >=TKL form-factor, as only a few commands would be there and they ...

Re: How about splitting the space bar, with equal-sized symmetrical halves?

I posted this to the Ideal Keyboard Layout thread (almost at the same time, mind you lol), but I guess it makes sense to copy it here as well. Speaking of a split spacebar, this is what I've been toying around in my mind for a while now: https://i.imgur.com/JJbNcbN.png The idea being that the naviga...

Re: Post a picture of your ideal keyboard layout!

While I haven't built one yet it SHOULD be doable with the common dz60 PCB. I can confirm that it fits. I have a kb with DZ60 and that config on my workbench now. Thanks, that's good to know! Are you using this plate? https://kbdfans.cn/collections/keyboard-part/products/dz60-cnc-aluminum-plate

Re: Post a picture of your ideal keyboard layout!

Speaking of a split spacebar, this is what I've been toying around in my mind for a while now: https://i.imgur.com/WJdCBtF.png The idea being that the navigation keys would be ambidextrous. The split-spacebar builds that I've seen on Internet usually have some variation of 2.75u - 1.25u - 2.25u spli...

Re: Post a picture of your ideal keyboard layout!

I already posted on previous page what my ideal layout might look like but for some reason I find myself again and again doodling around with Keyboard Layout Editor whenever bored. Let's give this another shot. https://i.imgur.com/K9i2XTb.png Most of the time my right hand is operating mouse so why ...

I type almost "properly", the way the Typing Master teaches you to. Except recently I've pretty much given up using my pinky fingers on the number row, it's just too awkward and slow. My ring fingers handle those keys now, unless I'm typing big numbers, then I move my hands entirely on the number ro...

That is a lovely layout, really - and I love that there are solid reasons for every design choice. The only thing that would potentially bother me is that the enter and backspace keys are harder to locate without looking since they are ‘behind’ the column of 1u nav keys on the right. Mind you, I do...

If you choose a HHKB-style backspace key, you should put Ins the #/' key and Del in the 1U keys right above it (in the space that normally holds the 2U backspace key). This frees the isolated 1U key on the top right corner, which you can make it into an Fn key that will allow you to map PrtSrc, Pau...

That's a reasonable one. I like the all round consistency. Something like this might very well exist already but my thought process behind this layout: I've always thought 60% keyboards look a bit silly with their wide aspect ratio (15u wide / 5u tall = 3), this is even worse for fullsized and 65% ...

I've been thinking about something similar to the above. Also recently came up with this:
