Re: Modern Beamspring? - The Silo Beam Switch

Very exciting news indeed! I have long been of the opinion that the lack of innovation in switch designs has been one of the things that has made me less interested in modern keyboards as of late, though this reality is understandable since designing new switches requires a lot more know-how and ing...

Re: What's Wrong with a Thrift Shop?

As far as Chyros is concerned I am pretty sure most of his finds were from a recycling center while he was living in the UK rather than a thrift store. I'd say it has little to do with what country you are in since plenty of decent thrift store finds have been documented in the community, but really...

Re: Learning to touch-type properly

I didn't learn to touch type until I turned 20. I was self-taught, never took a formal typing class. What worked for me was consciously forcing my fingers to stay near the home row until I developed the muscle memory and... playing tons of Typing of the Dead. Seriously, it works.

Re: Bass's for sale thread | Displaywriter (beamspring), Acer KB101AS (blue alps), Videowriter (brown alps), keycaps

Videowriter is now sold! I won't complain about the Beamspring prices (since I traded you a pile of really nice boards for one) but will say: we've come a long way since 2015. GLWS. Please do tell us about the boards you've decided to keep - in another thread perhaps. Thanks! I believe I mentioned t...

Bass's for sale thread

Re: Price Check: How much is my _____ worth?

I am planning on selling a large number of boards from my collection pretty soon and was wondering in particular how much an Acer KB101AS (blue alps, double shot keycaps with deep scooped homing keys) in pretty good condition would be worth? Haven't seen one of these come up for sale in a while and...

Hi all, I apologize for the long time between updates. To be honest, real life priorities have consumed most of my time -- namely I have been much busier at work and am also trying to buy a house. The latter in particular has really affected the amount of time and money I can now spend on this hobby...

Okay, but that price estimation is for an original one, would you say that IBM beamspring keycaps are worth 400usd because the usual beamsprings go for 1000usd+ ? because it's eventually the exact same situation, buy a beamspring keyboard, throw it out, sell the keycaps for 400usd since the usual b...

Isn't such a small distance between the screen and eyes (and also the field of view coverage) quite unhealthy? Really awesome find. I love the grey color scheme of the chassis in particular, it gives it sort of a nice industrial look. And to be NOS on top of that in light of recent price craziness for NOS blues.
