Re: Great/Interesting Finds

Uh... So you are among those who are waiting for the new kishaver? Did you have the chance to try it before placing the order? I am so curious to know how ping is it compared to our old ones.... If we consider that I have two model F AT quite different from each other

IMG_20190612_202508.jpg You are right!. Also mine is half italian & half English. I'd say Italiese, as all of us after all. Maybe at the time of the facts IBM tried to save some money...Mean people if you consider that the introductory price of a 5150 PC started at US$1,565 in early '80s (equivalen...

Re: Model M appreciation

Because I followed Geekhack tut by YakMN and you'd need to file the keyboard case in order to fit 1.5U. Anyway I wasn't scared to do so, but I preferred the 1.25 ones due to the key design I consider more inline with the ALTS modifiers. They give an F122 retro look style to the mod notwithstanding t...

Hi, no problem at all with the B key. G & H were cut with a cutter on the corners and then filed, though. Fortunately I had some spares.

In a lazy afternoon in South of Italy, warm is starting to make itself felt.... So instead of going out I preferred to swap key caps.
What do you think?

Not really sure what you are doing wrong but if it helps this is how I clamped my keyboard for the reassembly see the attached image Hi everyone and sorry if I ask something that might seem trivial to many veterans here. Surely I missed something in disassembling and assembling model F's early post...

Re: where to get a usb controller/adapter for a 5251 beamspring?

You can also ask to Steven. He lives in Hong Kong and made for me a fantastic F3178 USB converter with solenoid. The converter doesn't need any soldering and it's connected straight into the keyboard male plug. I bought mine on ebay (https://www.ebay.it/itm/IBM-Model-F-3178-USB-Converter/16365344663...

Re: IBM Model F AT modification

Personally I found very easy opening and closing F AT without clamps. My solution is opening like a book just loosing the top tabs with tongs I think he was referring to the case itself, not the assembly. I agree with Fohat that the F AT case is a bit of a bitch to open. You feel like you're going ...

Re: Model M appreciation

M5-1.JPG I rediscovered model M's quite late as computer geek, during my work at Italian broadcast television company. Here in the South of Italy, there were few chances to work in big companies and ibm workstations could be only found in big bank institutes or, indeed, at RAI Tv. At the beginning ...

Re: IBM models F tribute

After being a model M binge collector and user, I have lately discovered model F. My first approach with an F AT has been quite conflicting as the crispness and at same time the gorgeous clicky feeling struggles with an unripe key layout whose worst defect is doubtless the lack of the delete key. Nice. I might just take a "family pic" of all my Model F and Model M keyboards and macropads, too.
Unfortunately my F family is quite restricted, just an F122, an F AT and an XT. On the other hand, my M's is very extended though,

Beamspring goodies

Hi... For Beam spring fans, I want them to have a look here, on subito. It, an italian classifieds website https://m.subito.it/informatica/ibm-sys ... 08112.htm .
There is an IBM beamspring with all the hardware behind  at a reasonable price.
