Re: Price Check: How much is my _____ worth?

I think showing the inside is more important here since that's where the key feel lays. You can repaint the case anyway. Yeah, you're right. Here are some pics of the inside: https://imgur.com/a/jZz4YBv This is the tightest and best feeling beamspring I have, but I just don't have the time to restor...

Re: Why are alps keyboards not as popular?

Anyone have any ideas about why alps style tactile and click Lea eshavent been implemented in an MX compatible switched? It seems like that would be a good way to make a robust switch line that has the advantage of working with existing keyboard designs but so far nothing has surfaced. Proworld swi...

I forget, can you set the threshold of independent keys in xwhatsit? If so, can you change the thresholds to be low for all but one specifically?

Have you checked to see that the keys don't trigger each other's thresholds and that one doesn't override the other?

They actually designed an open source trackball, and it's called Ploopy. The name really gets me, that's a bad word.

Re: Old keyboard replacement rubber domes

I actually once had one of this board, under the Keytronic Flexpro name. I sold it to another user and included some springs to linearize it. One thing to look for is other Keytronic Foam and Foil keyboards secondhand, they tend to be a bit cheaper as for most people they aren't highly desired. This...

Re: Membrane Keyboard History?

wiki/Datanetics_elastic_diaphragm_array
This is the earliest mention I could find of a membrane on the wiki, though, it isn't exactly the same as a modern membrane. No conductive pads or whatnot. See the version without actuation module.

Re: Membrane Keyboard History?

If I had to guess the first membrane designs using conductive ink were more likely to be spring over membrane, and more likely than not on a calculator than a full computer or terminal due to the price involved in those at the time. I'll do a quick scan over some of the wiki and get back to you with...

Oh, I had found these just a few weeks ago, was talking about them on the discord. Re: Small as possible alps pcb/keeb or help with ibm 5140 conversion.

Hey, as an update to anyone interested, I can provide layouts and firmware compatible with kbfirmware.com so you can have the matrix mapping done. All you need to do is match it up with your teensy/pro micro pins, and it should*** (I am not liable if it doesn't work) work. I have versions for bigass...

Re: Where is your god of clicks now?! :D

Honestly for compatibility sake, I think that ProWorld switches are very close to Ambers but they are MX mount instead. Therefore, I think that they are top tier/god clicky switch. Yes, but at that point you're getting extremely obscure and I think you can probably count the individuals with boards...

Uh, I guess that could work??? But there is really no reason to go to that much effort when one can just wire up the matrix to a teensy like in our messages.

Maybe silk-screened? IIRC on my fake double shot ones they were very nice and distinct lettering, but still became worn off. Some keys had the fake doubleshot and some did not. I want to say the top row didn't have any, nor did the ortek logo keys. Could be real though cause ortek keyboards are a cl...

I can teach you how to convert the keyboard by wiring up to the matrix. No current Alps compatible PCBs will support the layout of the 5140 besides the original, if you want to use all of the keys. It's those damn small keys.

If it makes you feel any better Zed, I can't get the solenoid working either. Might have to ask DMA about it. I'm also willing to help promote to outside communities, like CountNoctua suggested, but I am not certain how to gather them all or how we want to present it. Perhaps I could make a submission thread and compile them all on the top post?
