Re: Man vs MicroSwitch: Converting a SD16234

Cool info. The board I bought had already had it's micro removed so I wasn't able to check it out myself. I have wondered what the use of the board was, those keys in the upper right corner are odd but I suppose the board was placed in some type of enclosure maybe in a factory or a lab somewhere. I ...

Re: [Interest Check] FK-5001/9000 calculator replacement

Been a while, but I am def interested in this. Tried a version of this myself but just haven't really had the time to devote. 1. I don't mind if it's not offline and from reading the later posts it seems that this was the choice that you also made. 2. Don't mind. 3. I have both older and new FK's so...

They look sun damaged. My gl102 has lighter blue sliders than my other blue alps but I only have two boards with blues so its hard to determine. Some of yours are so faded they look teal. I kinda like it though, introducing the new Alps switches in teal, fuschia, and periwinkle.

But it just so happens that my conversion works perfectly with this type of Microswitch so if you would like to use it with a modern computer it should be no problem. My firmware wor...

I had thought to 3d print sliders when I am trying out different plastic types and lubricants. To reduce variables I'm using actual Alps switches and I replace one component at a time testing and improving it until I can get identical performance from my replacement part. Then I will move on to the ...

I didn't think there was much difference in click leaves between blue and white alps. At least not on the two blue alps boards that I have. I will have to look at them more closely now. I have looked into getting switches made, tai hao still make a clone of the Alps switch don't they. My plan was to...

Yeah I'm undecided about lube, well at least as it pertains to Alps keyswitches. If you were going to use it I would recommend a dry teflon type lube, I had also been thinking graphite but it's conductive so I was unsure of using it. My big thing is never washing the sliders. I wash the upper housin...

Yeah blue Alps are over-rated people pay alot more for pigment. I have a very nice omnikey that has some very early white alps, in fact it was these white switches that stole me away from Cherry. Very early white alps are super similar to blues and mechanicaly I can find no difference in the two. So...

Won't bringing both the data and clock lines high for 20ms reset the board. Also the xt controller will flash all the leds after a hard reset, as a very basic functionality test. I've written a very basic xt converter that works on teensy2, its a very simple polling loop but it works on all the XT b...

I'm not a big fan of the tiny spacebar. Also if it has a built in trackpoint where are the mouse buttons supposed to go. The logical place would be in front of the spacebar built into the case. The main technical problems are probably gonna be ergonomic, you have such a staggering amount of keys, tr...

I would recommend any Northern board, omnikeys are great. Older Focus boards preferably a fk-5001. Try to get a used Alps board with few hours and you won't be disappointed. Also I prefer boards with the f-row on the left as you can tell by my recommendations.
