Re: Soarer's WYSE Converter

Thanks! I got both in different attempts. The tool you posted seems promising but I’m realizing that even if I can strip the cable successfully it will be a pain to solder these thin threads to the teensey. I’m planning to just get some electric wires and skip the whole 4p4c connector. There should...

Re: Recent Matias Switch Reliability

I had matias switches fail on a KBParadise V80 from 2016, which was well after talk of an improved "v2" had started. There's never been any technical information about any changes, and I've had chattering switches now on the V80, an Ergo Pro, and a handwire from a bag of secondhand switches. So colo...

One question though, which pin on the Pro Micro is PD0? I think the Github guide is for a Teensy but I am not certain.
Pin 2 on the pro micro is PD1, and pin 3 is PD0

Oh that is nice. I can imagine that unyellowed it would have a nice clean modern look.

I have a set of those in dark brown and I got a plate cut, but I goofed on the bottom row and I haven't had the patience to take the dremel to it or the money to just order a replacement.

Wouldn't be as fancy, but couldn't you build a frame from straight pieces of wood and either leave the bottom open or then slap on a flat piece of wood or acrylic to close everything off? No need for a router then. This ^ here's my own example https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?p=457898#p457898 ...

Are there any choices with switches other than Topre? Something like https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=23219&p=457438&hilit=at101w#p457438 For vintage alps boards, you have to evaluate the quality of the switches separate from the condition of the rest of the board. Re: Linear switch for autoimmune arthritis: light or heavy?

A more tedious but reliable option would be to linearize some white/cream damped alps (but these are bound to be heavier than 45g). My experience with Matias switches is that some will start to chatter, and they can usually be fixed permanently by disassembling/cleaning/reassembling, but on rare occ...

Re: Plate/PCB spacing for Alps?

First, just a general warning that for Alps builds, you need to adapt any advice to the specific keycap sets and case you plan to use. The easiest way to lay out an alps plate is to take a layout from http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com and then paste it at http://builder.swillkb.com (making sure ...

Re: IBM Model M - Any tips on gluing a chipped case?

So far my favourite for repairs of non-force-bearing plastic is https://www.amazon.ca/Tamiya-FBA_87038-Extra-Thin-Cement/dp/B000BMYWYC Quick set, strong bond, and produces an almost invisible seam if you get the parts fitted properly. I've also had some luck using E6000 glue to put a replacement ste...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

It might be possible to make a custom firmware for the xwhatsit controller to fix this, but I haven't had any success on that front. I ended up just using autohotkey to do what I wanted to do. Sadly it's not a perfect solution, some applications don't really play nicely with it. You don't happen to...

Re: Question about 3D printed case

Could use fine sandpaper or a dremel, or carefully trim it with an xacto knife.

From what I remember when I had access to a 3d printer, it would overfill the first layer like that by default for better adhesion to the bed, but it was adjustable in software.

If it feels good to type on, leave it. If there are keys that feel noticeably mushy, you might want to add screws in that area of the board.

Did you compile the .hex on your machine (share your files with us) or did you download it from the TMK site (make sure you picked the right revision in the dropdown)?

What software did you use to flash the .hex? Have you used it successfully in the past?
