Re: Repairing Model F badges

Taking off that protective film is the most satisfying finale of every keyboard restoration. Only once it happened to me that a little bit of the print got off together with the film. IBM XKB-3 186-146 Rev D1

Does anybody know what the story is behind this keyboard? It looks like a referbished xt in at at box. What do all the letters mean? I saw this on ebay /https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-IBM-XKB-3-186-146-Rev-D1-Mechanical-Clicky-Keyboard/133040875076?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1...

Re: Converting Pingmaster

Would you mind sharing the tutorial you followed? It would help to see that. But I'm afraid I'm just level-1 tech support here. You definitely want Hasu himself. I'd recommend posting your issue in the official thread: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=54706.0 If I think of anything I'll be sure...

Re: Converting Pingmaster

Your wiring is correct and it seems you flashed the firmware fine since the computer is recognizing it. Hasu's docs say that a pull up resistor may be needed. So certainly could be a reason. First thing I would check is whether the chips on the keyboard are getting power. Do you have a multimeter? ...

What's the problem that you seem to be having? Make sure the keyboard is connected to the converter before plugging the converter into your PC.

Converting Pingmaster

I have never done something like this before, but I think I did everything right. I flashed the hex file onto the pro micro using arduino builder and it is finding it is as ibm 4704 keyboard converter under devices. I don't know what else to do. https://imgur.com/a/1C8IEl8 has images of the wiring a...

Re: Repairing Model F badges

Is there any way to repair badges for model f's? I see so many model f's that have scratched badges like this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-Clicker-XT-IBM-F-MODEL-4584656-F10-PC-Keyboard-USA/223493808253?hash=item340944e07d:g:oIAAAOSwjEpcwQU8l and it makes me pretty sad tbh. Dirty Alps

I have never tried alps switches and am looking to buy some. People say that alps feel terrible when they are dirty and I wanted to know if they were worth buying if they aren't like new condition. Can you clean them and make them feel good? How do dirty alps feel compared to cherry switches? How di...
