Re: Alps Appreciation

After putting paper in my orange alps to stop them from clicking on the upstroke I got the idea to try and do the same thing with click leaves. My thought process was that if it silenced tactile leaves why would it not silence click leaves. I don't have a board with any clicky alps but I do have loo...

Re: Alps Appreciation

Where is the best place to buy replacement spring for orange alps? This was my first time delving into the world of modding switches and I think it came out pretty good all in all. I lubed and band-aid modded the stabilizers on my apple m0116 as well as lubing the switch sliders and upper housings w...

I've disasembed all of my orange alps with help from chyros (thanks btw :D) while I'm waiting for my ultrasonic cleaner to be delivered. I was wondering what I should put in the ultra sonic cleaner. I have an m0116 with orange alps that I got off ebay for a pretty good price (60 with shipping) since it's my first skcm/skcl board I am not sure what condition they are in but they feel somewhat inconsistent in tactitltiy and a lot of the switches make a clicking noise on the up stroke I have no id...

Re: Apple m0116 rollover

Yes, that is what "2-key rollover" means: the worst case of all key combinations. Weird issue. Have you tried combinations of keys far away from each other? BTW, the modifier keys should not be part of the matrix but on separate lines, and therefore not blocked or blocking any other keys. Edit: I w...

Apple m0116 rollover

What is the rollover on this keyboard? I just bought one and I am using it to type this right now with a drakware converter. No matter what I do I can not get more than 2 key rollover with any key combination is that just how this keyboard works or is it the adapter limiting it? I am pretty new to t...

Re: Are there any boards with the f77 layout? /what is that layout called?

I just bought an apple m0116 it's my first alps board other than my pingmaster and I am excited to try out skcm alps. I liked the feel of skcc greens but I couldn't stand the profile and I think I would prefer tactile or clicky. I only just realized right now that the layout of the m0116 is essentia...

I've seen boards like that come with blue alps - but it honestly could be anything. hard to see cap profile at that angle. The seller responded and said that it was a uncommon clone board and it feels cheap but clicky, whatever that means. He won't remove a keycap edit: he came through it was futab...

Re: Gold badge omnikey 102

So early white alps are practically the same thing as blue alps? Is that universal for all keyboards or just omnikeys. It's actually much more, uh, complicated than that. The simple version would more accurately be that late blue Alps sound and feel the same, or nearly the same as very early white ...

I think that that layout would be so nice to use because I like having dedicated arrow keys, but I don't need function keys or a numpad. I also like that it is separated in a block something that you don't get with 65 percents, or at least not with anything that I have seen.

That is a crazy find. My favorite model f layout and layout in general. I don't mind dropping the F keys but having a nav cluster or numpad on the right is great without taking up much space. Reminds me of a tkl at layout or something even if that makes no sense

Re: Why do you need foam on your model f?

I bought another xt off of ebay that I got really lucky with and it has prestine foam. I cant say if it is just that or the lack of rust/cleaner in general, but it feels much smoother and the tactility is much more pronounced. typing on the board with no foam feels almost linear. The sound is much m...

There was a couple of small scratches on both sides of the clip it was maybe opened but i'm not sure. I made a typing test here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQoBGNrdl2w it sounds very similar to my board that had no foam maybe a little more bassier.

Re: Whats up with my model f xt? Two layers of foam?

You got really lucky with that. I've seen a few examples of good foam, in fact, this new old stock IBM 5155 Model F XT has pristine foam in it. ;) This has deliciously thick, yet slightly fuzzy legends btw. It also has a pleasant new old plastic smell which is fading the more I use it. :( Enjoy you...

Re: Whats up with my model f xt? Two layers of foam?

That's not new foam, you are just very lucky that the foam has kept well over the years. The stuff US Models F use seems to hold up much better than the white-skinned foam in all three UK Models F XT I have opened, which was completely disintegrated in each of them. That is also not a second layer ...
