Re: Some of my best finds from Computer Reset

That IBM Alps ISO board makes me want to empty by bank account, slaughter all of the credit I have, buy the board and not eat anything for few months.

Food is overrated anyway.

Re: Keyboard conversions/mods I did while on a long sick leave.

AEKII My father was journalist pre-retirement. This meant that he had one those rare jobs that both got computers relatively early and was also very Apple focused [puiblishing was super heavy into Macs even back then]. I remember trying/using various Apple keyboards that his work computers had. Sin...

Re: Keyboard conversions/mods I did while on a long sick leave.

Toshiba T3100e and a challenger Toshiba T-series computers were successful line of early ’mobile’ computers. They were kind of between ‘luggable computers’ and modern laptops. You could hold them on your lap, sort of. Not comfortably though. My first proper serious girlfriend at university had one ...

Keyboard conversions/mods I did while on a long sick leave.

In March, I was on a crosswalk on my way to work. Car hit me. This did not – technically- end my way to work, due to me being employed by the hospital that ambulance took me. It did however leave me with lot of free time, while my body recovered from that exchange with a car. Two months plus some we...

Re: Alps Appreciation

Keyboard from Toshiba T3100 with 'Alps common mount low profile/SKFM' on the left and keyboard from Toshiba T3200 with Alps SKFL on the right. Currently in the process of converting these. They use some kind of ancient FCC cable with a pitch that no one seems to make anymore. Finally managed to find...

Re: Origin of each country's QWERTY keyboard layout?

In Swedish/Finnish layout, at least under Linux, Æ, Ø, Þ, Ð, ß and × are available with Alt Gr on A, Ö, T, D, S and * respectively, and µ on Alt Gr-M of course. These mappings are all very straightforward. If you have enabled the Compose key, you could use that to create — and ÷ . A decent word pro...

Re: Alps stabilizers on ISO layout

I was trying to take picture of the stabiliser on my Matias Tactile Pro in nordic ISO when - in true show of Matias ´quality´- one of the stabilisers came off. :D https://i.imgur.com/7CJgIPp.jpg https://i.imgur.com/F6e1h5u.jpg After battling for 5 minutes with the slippery over-luber stabiliser, I m...

That keyboard is certainly not a Spanish (Latin America) keyboard (or any other Spanish layout).

The Control key -that I was talking about- is from Spanish (Latin America) Model M.

(most of other keys are from a 1986 IBM Wheelwriter with finnish/swedish layout)

edit: Changed my mind re Control -> ctrl. Because i realised there'll be a bunch of other capitalized words on the board.
:(
Fully written Control is the best control (from 1996 Lexmark, Latin american spanish ISO).

Re: ISO users

The only non-ISO layout I use is the Whatever-Freaky-Layout my Pingmaster has. Everything else I've in finnish/swedish ISO (I'm a finn). And yeah, that has meant either extra costs or skipping certain things due to them not having proper layout. But there are so many keyboards, so many options out t...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYSWITCH thread

Coulf use some help identifying. Got this Toshiba T3100e today. That model is known to have Alps SKFL switches. However, mine clearly does not. https://i.imgur.com/DH7opTK.jpg At first sight I guessed SMK 2nd gen, but nope. Then maybe Alps SKFR/SKFS, but it's not that either. No visible branding. ht...

I received one of these yesterday. Not that suprised that the shipping costs to Europe were so high, as it somehow managed to cross the Atlantic three times (!) on its way from from USA to Finland. Bound to expensive with that mileage. Just a snippet from the shipping updates: Chicago, USA --> Colog...
