Re: Great/Interesting Finds

Yep, broken hammer, it was the part that was holding the spring that broke off.
But c'mon guys, IBM cut to many corners with the M2 keyboard. Maybe a nice keyboard to collect, but not for regular use.

A non-working IBM Model M2 that looks like it's in good physical shape for $35 USD https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Vintage-IBM-Model-M2-QWERTY-Clicky-Wired-Keyboard-1395300-WP1-M2-PARTS-ONLY/264384443931 Usually one can be revived with replacement capacitors. Re: Datacomp Project

Thanks for the reply! What's strange about these switches is that there's no Alps logo on the upper *or* lower housing. I have a few keyboards from 1989 or so with early white Alps, and no logo on the upper housings, but those have a logo on the bottom, just like (most) blues. But the Datacomps are...

Re: Datacomp Project

Nice, we just talked about the cable on that one, with the early 5 pin connector on the PC board. Glad it found a good home! The switches in mine are something other than early whites, but I'm not quite sure what they are. I have a couple keyboards with white SKCM from 1989 or so, the ones that sou...

Re: Alps Appreciation

Its a really nice board before i got it i was using a gateway 2000 and before that a corsair k70 and i can already say i prefer the White alps to the cherry reds in the k70. As i said im a beginner with alps boards i gave mine a once over and opened a few switches that felt scratchy. In the future i...

Re: Datacomp Project

Thanks! Datacomp was a bigger player than many folks realize, at least partly because most of their stuff was rebranded with someone else's name. They used that same basic case design (with variations) for decades, and in fact they still show current versions on their website. What are the switches...

I have two F107s but seeing as I’m in Asia and you’re in the Netherlands, shipping might be prohibitively expensive.
Shipping and import duties are quite high. And DHL might be billing you afterwards for 30 euro administartion costs for handling the customs.

I don't mind he modded it with another color, keyboard-layout, keycaps .. You can always reverse the mods and do you own mods. I have a Model F-AT, but decided to keep the old layout out of laziness.

An unrestored F107 sells for 400 dollar , so 400 pound is actually not a bad deal..

Thanks to all. If compare with modern full brass keyboards, what is better on quality, IBM old school? I have a two year old Unicomp and a 1986 IBM Model M, the IBM Model M is a lot better. Vintage IBM keyboards are built like a tank, if they look good, you can buy these without hesitations. Some c...

An 1985 IBM Model M silver badge is my current favourite, I type fast on it and it's built like a tank. The clear crisp click and nice keystroke makes it better than later Model M and Unicomp keyboards.

Re: Why do you need foam on your model f?

I used left over underlay for laminate floorboards, it has the right thickness and compressibility needed. Also used some underlay foams I had leftover. The thin underlay works great, I think it's about 1.25 mm. Thick underlay (2.5 mm with a plastic coating) didn't worked at all, couldn't close the...
