Re: "Pine-ify" neon green alps?

Hi,
I think j0nI and me are not comparing different switches, we are trying to determine wether tactile switches with Pine housing are better then the same tactile switches with Bamboo housing.

Re: "Pine-ify" neon green alps?

That is my experience as well. However, based on what people say, there should be a lot more difference between pine/Bamboo when it comes to SKCM (neon) green. Don't know how they could be so different. Well, IMO Pine clicky switches are much better than Bamboo clicky switches, but with tactile swi...

Re: "Pine-ify" neon green alps?

The effect of swapping housing with slits is not very big with tactile switches.
You can try papermodding the switch, I noticed a bit more tactility with my Alps black bamboo and orange switches.

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

I have seen this case before. Looks like a https://deskthority.net/wiki/Datacomp_DFK191 to me. You can have several switch options. I bought this board from ghostagw187. Member Polecat has several of this board in his collection. To answer your question, is it worth buying this keyboard: If it has ...

This Fairlight? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairlight_CMI They’re the ones who keen on coming up in my searches for the name. First I’ve ever heard of them, but definitely cool synth history there. As a Roland fan myself, I like what I see! Nice documentary about synt music https://www.youtube.co...

Re: Best Case/PCB for Alps Switches

If i buy a vintage board and swap the switches do I need to desolder or can I just swap the components? I usually desolder the switches, but if your desoldering skills are wanky I would just swap the spring, slider, clickleaf and housing. Never did a test if there is much difference in sound and ke...

Re: Best Case/PCB for Alps Switches

I think the easiest solution is to get an used KBParadise V80 and swap the switches for complicated White or Blue Alps. You can replace the plastic case for an aluminium case (TEX TKL case or the Aluminium TKL case on Aliexpress). I asked KB Paradise if they could sell me a V80 Alps kit without the...

Re: Quick repair for non functioning key on Model F

I think you have some dirt between the flipper and the board. I had the same problem with my Model F AT.
You need to open the metal back panel and clean the flippers and the board.

Re: Cleaned Blue Alps switches, keyboards and switches from my collection

.. just out of curiosity, what did you do with the keyboard chassis? I still have Acer KB-102A and Leading Edge DC-2014 cases, but they are in bad condition. They were extremely yellowed, so I tried retrobrighting them. Unfortunately I wasn't successful - they have a lot of ugly marbling now and ar...

In Europe, generally we get an invoice to pay from the customs. I am a bit surprised that you are buying a keyboard from Europe and having it shipped over to the US. I would expect it to be the other way round, there’s tons of retro stuff that I’d rather buy from the US....which are impossible to g...

Yep, broken hammer, it was the part that was holding the spring that broke off.
But c'mon guys, IBM cut to many corners with the M2 keyboard. Maybe a nice keyboard to collect, but not for regular use.
