Re: Unicomp SSK coming March 2020
Still not gonna unlearn AltGr + 2 = @, AltGr +E = my currency, or any other AltGr combo from my muscle memory, simply because Unicomp is obsessed placing Right Windows key [ for me the second least used key after Scroll lock ) where AltGr should be. Nor am I gonna spend the roughly two billion Euro...

Grabbed a Zenith for cheap because I love laptops with mechanicals. Turns out to to have Alps integrated Domes, beautiful double shots though. zenith1.jpg zenith2.jpg Nice keycaps... Still regretting I haven't bought a similar Zenith laptop, the seller didn't want to send it and I was to lazy to pi...

Re: Best modern contact-based linear switch.
I am not new to linears that aren’t exactly new, and have tried the best of the best contactless switches. The only problem that I had with most of them, is the fact that they actuate way too high for me. (In relation to the contactless switches). And I know keyboards like the wooting that use cont...

Teensy 2.0 works fine, you will not regret it.
You can remap keys with the firmware, very convenient to have my CapsLock key (I never shout) remapped to the Windows key.

A silver badged IBM-Model M, UK - ISO Layout
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114013201623
Not really a bargain (I got mine a lot cheaper) but condition seems to be ok. If you're looking for IBM-Model M keyboard, the silver badged ones are the best.

I thought about it because I'm looking for a white alps board and that one is pretty clean, but I think I'd prefer to get something like an omnikey Omnikeys are very good... Re: Focus fk-2002 ‘3systems’ / ‘Esystems’ branding
Nice. Those are, to me, the best of the white Alps switches. The logo-less early Alps White switches are close to late Alps Blue switches. I compared them, same springs and switch plates, only difference are the sliders. When in good condition and paired with an excellent board, you have a F.... aw...

Re: Alps Appreciation
How do you guys generally maintain your alps keyboard? Even though I clean my desk often, I notice that there is some dust underneath the cap. I am afraid to blast it with air duster can though, worryying that the dust might go even deeper. For the future, should I get some sort of dust cover? Bah,...

Re: DTK SPK-101 Keyboard
Never heard of DTK, but the keyboard doesn't look bad. Nice keycaps, the case seems ok, yellowed in a nice way, no rust on the plate. You can improve the Alps White switches with lubing the sliders and bending the click leaf. Thomas made a video about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Mhmb2kBuwQ T...

Huh. Never knew Video-writers could come with other alps switches. Haha, really funny  Bummers, you are quite unfortunate. Next time ask for photo's of the switches. They have some distinct smooth tactile bump, can't really be compared with other Alps tactile switches. SKCL Green is a linear switch, something completely different. Linear switches a are much simpler in design Nice switches, but the keyboard is a Chicony 5160, not really exciting. SKCL Brown and ...

Hi,
I think j0nI and me are not comparing different switches, we are trying to determine wether tactile switches with Pine housing are better then the same tactile switches with Bamboo housing.

Re: "Pine-ify" neon green alps?
That is my experience as well. However, based on what people say, there should be a lot more difference between pine/Bamboo when it comes to SKCM (neon) green. Don't know how they could be so different. Well, IMO Pine clicky switches are much better than Bamboo clicky switches, but with tactile swi...

Re: "Pine-ify" neon green alps?
The effect of swapping housing with slits is not very big with tactile switches.
You can try papermodding the switch, I noticed a bit more tactility with my Alps black bamboo and orange switches.

If i buy a vintage board and swap the switches do I need to desolder or can I just swap the components? I think you have some dirt between the flipper and the board. I had the same problem with my Model F AT.
You need to open the metal back panel and clean the flippers and the board.
