Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Personally, I quite like the Mitsumi switches that Commodore used. You kind of just tap the keys while typing. You'll never bottom out. The (very pronounced) progressive linear curve is arguably another kind of tactility.

Re: Topre 3rd Party Domes

They should all be compatible. The "cross mount" appears to just be a logo of sorts. The bigger question is how the different ones feel, and relate to each other. That doesn't seem to be well-documented. The open top purple ones have a fairly instant snap right at the top. Quite different from the g...

Don't forget Deskeys domes. They've been around for a while.

I don't think I have seen anything about the V2 or V3 domes, but the V1s definitely have been discussed occasionally. I have some V1 purple ones myself.

Re: New Keyboard Came In The Mail Today - Matias Mini Quiet Click for PC

My guess would be that the increment in version number is due to the detachable cable. Matias' website mostly just uses the terminology "Tactile Pro" without much mention of 4, so I wouldn't be surprised if they simply didn't think, or bother to update it. The site seems quite dated too, for whateve...

Looks the same as the Perixx-branded adapter. One thing to be aware of with this type is that they forget held keys after a couple of seconds.

Re: Soarers Converter and my Work Laptop

I get similar problems (including knocking out the mouse) when using one plugged into a 4-way basic USB splitter, which is in turn plugged into a powered USB-C dock. Today I tried plugging the converter directly into the dock, and that seemed to eliminate the issue, from the little I tested. I'm gue...

Just got a very special package today! Huge thanks for making this happen, inozenz.

As for the moisture, I imagine it's "plastic sweat". It reminds me of the stuff on new Lego tyres. Wipes off easily.

I have had a similar experience. As I said, using a different computer helped for me. The one that worked was an old HP t5710 thin client running Windows 98 (I'm fairly certain it was the hardware, not the operating system that made the difference). I wonder if there is something about older PS/2 ch...

See if you can import the current layout into the software by using the "Upload" button. At least, that's what works in MIDWIN.

If it doesn't seem to talk to the device properly, you could try a different computer. That's what worked for me in the past.

I noticed the same with a page I made recently (six days ago), but looking again now it seems it has finally shown up in the categories. Maybe it just takes a while? I don't think pages are subject to any manual review. Edit: Looking again, the page only shows up in most of the categories when I am ...

I have a PS/2 and AT 5100C. There is a difference between them, but I strongly suspect that models with different connectors produced at the same time would feel the same as each other. I'd be surprised if that first one wasn't a Datacomp switch. As for the second, wouldn't that just be a post-2000 SKBM? Forward kept making them for 12 years after their Alps partnership ended.

The keycap font looks Marquardt-esque. Compare with this. Wouldn't know what switch that could mean. There are several barely-documented Marquardt switches around the place.

Hmm, did you take a look at the SK-2100W photo I linked earlier? That looks like Fujitsu rather than Silitek, doesn't it? I of course agree wrt the FCC ID, but the photo convinced me that the model does at least come with Fujitsus. Notice the model number of the one keyboard that the wiki page list...

This wiki page has some glimpses of a Key Tronic spacebar insert, although it's not for the same type of switch. It looks like a similar principle to Costar stabilisers. The wire in your picture looks like it could work with something similar.

Re: Would using a PCIe PS/2 Controller solve issues of a PS/2 to USB converter

A PS/2 PCI (or PCIe, if they exist) card will just be a USB card with the addition of a PS/2 to USB chip built in, the same as could be found in an external adapter. It won't be the same as a "real" PS/2 port on the motherboard. However, that's not guaranteed to be a problem. If all the board needs ...

Czech-made Cherry boards are relatively recent, so the C will mean 2016. (Plus it's got the recent logo, USB etc.)
