Re: Unidentified POS keyboard restoration and retrobrighting

I seem to have neglected this thread :D Found that pic on my computer, probably downloaded from an ad years ago: KB-128.JPG So your keyboard is a KB-128, and as Lanrefni wrote, probably an older Protech version. You can find the programming manual online (in German), but it will probably not be muc...

Re: Unidentified POS keyboard restoration and retrobrighting

Hi jeb. Thanks for the suggestion. The problem is I don't have a solder (and I have never soldered), and don't have multimeter or something like that. I plan to buy all this stuff in the future and learn how to use it so your comment will be very useful. Funny thing about this keyboard is that it ma...

I was leaning towards saying it was a Tipro, but those number keys look just like the ones on a Protech KB-128- http://www.protech.com.tw/Products/prod ... ?PM_ID=513 ,It might be an older version.
I've contacted Protech and they said it is not their model.

Great job bring this back to life! Hopefully you can use a converter and get some more functionality out of this POS terminal board.
I've bought DIN to ps/2 and ps/2 to usb converters, all seems to be working fine. The trouble is the software I need to program it.

Unidentified POS keyboard restoration and retrobrighting

Unfortunately I still haven't been able to identify this keyboard manufacturer so I can't program it. I'm waiting to get my hands on another DIN input keyboard to maybe try my luck with the additional input on the keyboard itself to use it for programming. I've read that thats how some older TIPRO k...

Re: Is ground wire really necessary (Dell at101w)

What I always do for my AT101W USB mods is solder the ground wire from the plate to the USB port's shielding. By the way, can you do a post on your AT101W? It's looking pretty interesting! I was going to but the end result didn't go as expected since I've cut a new case for it manually and it has m...

Re: Retrobright two questions

1. Good question ... You could maybe search around to see what kind of lamps that other people have used. 2. If that is plastic, it should probably be OK. If it is paper, then I would not retr0bright it at all. You should avoid exposing metal parts to hydrogen peroxide. Do disassemble it as much as...

Retrobright two questions

I know there are many topics on retrobright but I have two specific questions: Will this lamp work: https://www.chipoteka.hr/artikl/70115/zarulja-blacklight-uv-e2775w230v-lamp7-8011201902 Secondly, do I need to cover or protect the part of the keyboard which is of another color, like the square part...

Hi. Sorry for the intrusion but I just wanna say hi to a fellow keyboard man from Croatia. Poz! the black big wire goes very likely from the external chassis of the PS2 (the "ring") to the plate. It's mostly for interference.
Oh. Ok. Thanks.

If you have a custom controller installed I would simply leave it as is
The wire goes from the ps/2 cable, If I install custom controller the cable also changes so there is no ground wire to connect

Is ground wire really necessary (Dell at101w)

I've disassembled my Dell at101w and I have seen there is a ground wire (earthing) that goes from the ps/2 port wire and it is connected to the bottom of the plate. What happens if I don't connect this back when I reassemble it? Is there a danger of electric shock? Will the keyboard work properly? W...

Edit: they do steel/aluminum, if you are happy with a wood or acrylic sandwich style case you'll have to look elsewhere but it will be much cheaper.
Thanks! I guess they would also make great switchplates, which is what I also need for another project.

Vintage keyboard identification and cleaning help.

Hi. This is my first post, I've been a keyboard enthusiast for some time, and I use modified Dell at102dw for my everyday use.
