That's an interesting looking switch, no idea what it is though. How do they feel?
Fairly standard 1980s linear switch. Pretty smooth, but quite short travel for the switch height. I thought they felt a bit like Cherry M7.

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

I Googled Market Minder + Limit Minder and got https://www.jstor.org/stable/4529591. Financial Analysts Journal from 1973. The article's behind a paywall, though. I'm not sure about the legality of sending the PDF itself, but the relevant page is also depicted on this website: https://www.adspast.c...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Does anyone recognise anything about this? Clearly not a normal keyboard, and it's nearly as tall as it is wide. Uses steel sliders to press Micro Switch microswitches. Branded GTE Information Systems, dated PCB dated 1973. Has a strange logo on the PCBs which looks like an E/C, M/I or W/I and a li...

03C1127E-AD27-4A6C-BBED-221B90E9145F.jpeg Does this bottom row layout (1.75u control and alt, 9u space bar, then 1.75u alt and control, no gaps at all) suggest anything about the likely switches? I think the rest of the board is “normal” layout, ie like a Model M, not XT or AT. I forget the right t...

Re: Can You Domeswap a Niz with Topre?

They do work, however expect to disassemble it multiple times to get all the domes to sit correctly. This was my experience too, even with the (admittedly modified) Niz dome sheet. I personally don't think it made a huge difference in feel. What weighting did you originally have? My Niz was 35g, an...

Re: Can You Domeswap a Niz with Topre?

I haven't tried myself, but I believe that topre/BKE domes themselves to fit in a Niz board. However, the topre dome sheets would not have the alignment guides for the Niz boards, so may be harder to position, or require modification (not a problem for loose BKE domes). I don't know they much about ...

Hi all, I think this is some kind of integrated dome keyboard, but I am interested in what the experts here think. Thank you. PS. Please ignore cherry mx black in one of the photos. Re: A Parkard Bell SK-2100 not made by BTC.

In general, most boards with SK-**** model numbers are made by Silitek. I've never seen BTC use that format. I've also not seen Alps mount Silitek dome and slider before, only MX mount. I will say that those keycaps very similar to standard BTC lasered keycaps, and nothing like the Silitek keycaps I...

This is a Chicony 5181 I think. Can't read the FCC ID but the back label is very Chicony. Switches would then be Aristotle? Identity probably just rebranded a bunch of stuff.

There is a lot of opposition to the methods proposed here. Enough opposition that it is time to shelve this proposal. Stop telling people what they need and how it should be done. Leave Soarer alone.

Re: Buckling Spring Heresy!

I have poppped springs off before and fyi I believe there is a lip on the bottom to set it. So you can pop it off without pulling the spring using you fingernails to unseat it from this lip. Also if they aren't buckling push down with fingernails to reset on this lip. Dont know if it will help but ...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Yeah, I made a mistake to make judge for my only first glance, the tabs on the back misled me they were two-pins contact switches. Re: Buckling Spring Heresy!

You certainly could be right and both hammers existed in parallel. These were rebranded a lot and maybe hammer choice was a branding option. I think there were also a Tawain and Canadian factories so maybe that is a factor too. But "gen 2" hammers are far and away nicer. Edit: Dang I just saw that ...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Any idea about this module? This is the second one I've seen on japanese auction sites and missed by 10 seconds. If I had to guess I would place my bets on Microswitch. I 99% sure it's kinda of contact based switches judging by the PCB, probably SMK or NEC linear variants. No need regreting at all,...
