Re: IBM model F XT PCB. Is it fixable?
I actually prefer the F's bottom row, I always end up accidentally pressing alt and some other keys while typing and it pulls up menus or makes me leave my tab. The only thing I would change about the layout is I would swap CTRL with ALT and tilde with "esc". It's neat that the PCB has the contacts ...

Re: IBM model F XT PCB. Is it fixable?
I like the "switches" In the Model F AT quite a lot, unfortunately the layout leaves much to be desired (I'm still getting used to it), particularly the location of the "Esc" key. I'm still adjusting to how light they are compared to the Model M, which I have used for the last few years.

Re: IBM model F XT PCB. Is it fixable?
I haven't got to try out an M0110 yet, or any mechanical Apple keyboard for that matter. I live in San Antonio and the collector I met lives in Houston, so I don't think it is XMIT since his profile says Austin. It is nice to know that there are other members within the area, this may explain why I ...

Re: IBM model F XT PCB. Is it fixable?
What Macs did you trade for these two IBMs, I wonder? I traded two 1984 128ks and two 512Ks (computer only missing all peripherals) for the keyboards, I also sold the guy 7 other Macintoshes (for cash), I got these all from an estate and they threw away all of the keyboards and mice before I got th...

Re: IBM model F XT PCB. Is it fixable?
The only way to know if it's a problem is to hook it up to an XT computer, if you happen to have one lying around, or more likely a Soarer's converter. The keyboard would need re-assembled with the barrels, springs and caps on. The keyboard is reassembled to prevent further damage, and I currently ...

IBM model F XT PCB. Is it fixable?
I traded a bunch of old Macintosh computers for two model F keyboards. I got an AT and an XT out of the deal. The AT works fine and was really clean. The XT on the other hand was quite dirty, but still looked to be in better shape than those on eBay, at least on the surface. While disassembling to c...

{TX}{WTT} Chyron Maxine Character Generator Keyboard
I bought this keyboard a while ago off eBay thinking that it would have cherry MX clears, however, as it turned out, it has linear Keytronic F&F switches. (The newer ones, not the old ones that say Spokane on them). I really detest linear switches, I bought an MX black board and ended up giving to m...

Interesting character generator keyboard, colorful caps, but I'm guessing the switches are something along the lines of foam and foil.

Apologies for the low-quality image. The seller says that one is "very heavy". Do any of you know what some of these are? Are any of them worthwhile?

Re: Weird HP keypad with 32 keys
I don't know about the slider variant, but the ones in this HP keypad feel better than normal rubber domes. The reason I got it was because it felt different from other domes that I had tried. It feels quite tactile, and it's not as mushy as normal rubber domes, also it feels solid when bottoming ou...

Weird HP keypad with 32 keys
I found this bizarre keypad sort of thing, maybe a macro pad of sorts. It's made by HP, and has 32 keys in an ortholinear cross shape. The switches it uses are a really weird maxi switch rubber dome-type switch fastened with screws on a pcb. Here are some photos of it https://imgur.com/a/qYdmF7t . R...

Checked the Wiki and its a IBM JX keyboard. Pretty expensive though, posted because I hadn't seen any ibm keyboards online with the 50th anniversery badge on it.

Re: Motorola AlphaMate Keyboard. Anyone know what switch it uses?
Not really a fan of MX blacks and I've heard that foam and foil's don't feel all that great either so I'll hold off on purchasing, I'm hoping I can find stuff locally, but I haven't had any luck so far.

Motorola AlphaMate Keyboard. Anyone know what switch it uses?
I'm new to posting here, but i've read a lot of the posts. So anyway, I've seen a lot of these Motorola Alphamate keyboards on eBay, and was wondering if anyone knew what type of switch they use. Heres a link to one on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorola-AlphaMate-Paging-Keyboard-Terminal-w-AC-P...
