I game on buckling spring. Works about as well for me as anything does. I've tried the rgb otemu blue inexpensive gaming boards, those work fine too.

Re: Dear Model F owners, can we talk? (Long rant)

Model F is a pale shadow of the true king, the selectric! All is relative. I do feel the original post of this thread. I get that same feel sometimes. And complained about it a few times too. I think its worth pointing out that we users do exist who like the ibm m or unicomp m, for noobs readi...

Re: Dear Model F owners, can we talk? (Long rant)

As a proponent of the unicomp M, I got to say I like all three.. I have used F's and M's and unicomp M's.. I respect anybody's opinion who says they like only F's. Or they like original M's better. I get it, I am perhaps much less picky about switch feel, alignment, caps, color, etc. For those who a...

Re: What's your list of beige whales?

Under $100... that qualifier maybe needs to be updated for the 2021 keyboard market. Make it $150 or $200.. Lucky enough that I have scored some beige dolphins for reasonable prices. You can't rightly call it a whale after you score one right. Same for me what raulduke said. When I'm ok typing on a ...

I mean, sure, of course. It's just kind of frustrating that you can spend like £15 on a crap rubber dome board and it will have better legend alignment than the >£100 Unicomp, y'know?
Good point.

Re: What is the difference between Unicomp Mini m and traditional unicomp?

The mini M case and the cable are fine imo.. but I do not touch the cable much or worry about a lack of 80's style solidity. Like the others stated its some of the other things about the mini M that may not be fine, depending on how you use it and what you care about. I tried mine with a flight sim ...

Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!

A naming convention sometimes begins in a rational system, then devolve as complexities enter. They end up even more confusing than a purely random name system. What you can end up with is a 90% rational system with 10% randomness tossed in to troll decoding efforts. Maybe that is why the employee s...

Re: Old serial terminals?

No tips, but I would be surprised if running systems are increasing demand for these. The place I was at dumped them as soon as a PC running emulation crossed under the terminals in cost. Which was a long long time ago. Like windows 3.11 long time ago.

There are always the M's for the new hobbyist.. I mean I can get on daily with rubber domes or scissors just fine. Its not that big of a deal, but its nice to have something a little better to use. Doesn't have to be the creme de la creme for daily driver duties or just getting into the hobby.

Re: Space Cadet Keyboard on eBay

There’s a post from 2018 where Orihalcon is selling F107 for ~500. Are they worth that? Sure. 2300? Not to me. That price puts it firmly into “that’s cool but not for me” territory like a G Wagon or a second house. Exactly how I feel about it. No high level outrage, just meh ok so 1972 Chevelles an...

Ugly fonts, stupid layout, slightly dirty, and you can't even hook it up to a Soarer's. I kind of agree with this though it was meant as sarcasm... Sure the look is cool as heck but I don't fully understand the going rates. I also don't understand the level of outrage for the skyrocketing values. L...

I'm thinking about building a buck for a run of them. I just don't want to screw it up on some mundane detail. Which I'm apt to do.

Having something over $200 where I'm not comfortable drinking coffee around it, will make me nervous. This would be better..

unicomp is working on a tkl, but as I understand it they are understaffed due to covid, and so everyone who would be working on developing the tkl is currently working in assembly so that they can still fill orders. Saw this was finally available. Good news, ordered. Factoring in the under $150 pri...

Pretty much everything Mu said goes for me too. Actually under 100 or 150 is more my comfort zone than 200. Not that I can't appreciate a cast metal case F. The vintage branch of the rabbit hole isn't a bad one to do. The modern branch is, I think, the one that dooms mere mortals. Take caution there, lest you be saddled with hundreds of expensive "artisan keycaps" of dubious worth. And other such pitfalls. Old stuff tends to hold its value at worst, and...
