Re: Recreating the Lisp keyboard (10 years later)
Second the suggestion about a separate keycap offering.
Would be better if the keycap could be adapted for other boards, like Model F or beamspring.

Re: IBM 3276 versus 5251
It is kind of a hard pick. 5251 has a slightly better layout and more usable keys, but 3276 has the metal case.
You definitely see more 5251 for sale though.

Interesting use of the Model M barrel plate; very useful if you have trouble sourcing Model F barrels.
The outer case could probably use some new paint though.

Re: TMK Help/Question
Nothing wrong with your code AFAICT, however, it's possible that the handler for the lock keys are resetting the indicator light status.
Maybe do a project wide search for led_set ?
Also is NumLock your layer toggle key?

I'm having a hard time picturing how to get the stabalizer wire to catch on both hooks on the space bar. Can you point out where you're attaching the floss?

Re: Useful Macros
I save my password manager's master key as a macro, so that I can make it a strong one while not taking forever to type it.
That macro can only be called using a 4-key combination so no one can press it by accident. Also no one has physical access to my keyboard.

Re: How to make the worst switch possible?
I'm not sure what it was, but I think it could have been a variation of Siemens STB that had a weird sensation when pressing. It was scratchy on the way down in a way that resembled getting shocked with electricity, as when touching an electric appliance that isn't plugged into an earthed socket. D...

Try an IBM Selectric.
In addition to sound of typing element hitting the platen, you also get motor whirring and carriage slamming the tab stops; quite an auditory experience.
Now imagine an office full of them.

And both barrel plates are cracked. At this point you might be better off just chopping a regular M barrel plate.

Also think pad track point doesn't have mouse buttons either
