Yes I think you are right! That key may have been damaged in shipping. If there's no way to gently push the stabilizer back into place please send me an email to arrange a replacement key.

A modern microcontroller costs very little to manufacture, and not much more to buy (you can get an RP2040 for pennies). There'd be very little to gain by making an MCU with 1970s-era processing power, even if it could keep up with the modern demands placed on it.
