So, I got the F50 to serve as a numpad for the F62. (In case anyone is interested, I also implemented support for it in my AAKBD firmware .) I just put a lot of F-keys in the two leftmost blocks for now, and blank keys in the numpad split positions while I'm considering the layout. Any ideas for wha...

The QMK codebase has only been getting larger (some might even say more bloated?) over time. Some of the newer features are nice, to be sure, but it's seemingly not possible (at least without a LOT of creative re-optimization) to get all of them to simultaneously fit within the tiny ATmega's memory...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

EDIT 2: I'm starting to think that must be what's going on. A cursory glance at quantum/via.h suggests that VIA defines the offset for its own magic number as EECONFIG_SIZE, so VIA itself is assuming that it can safely store its own stuff in EEPROM immediately after the end of the EECONFIG block. S...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

The Arkku calibration routine adds a whopping 3K of additional code to QMK, compared to pandrew's. My builds of Vial were already on the tight side, with only ~1K of space to spare. Hmm, this does not correspond to what I remember the difference being. Are you comparing with the same configuration ...

The DAC is 4 times more precise on your keyboard than the new ones, [...] I'd love to know what you are referring to here? Like you, I put Control where the Caps Lock legend lives on modern keyboards. Another option then is to swap Ctrl and Caps Lock in firmware, and then map Caps Lock (which is now at the lower left corner, where the Ctrl key would normally be) to Globe/Fn. That also coincides with the Fn key location...

I still would like to know how to teach my F77 firmware to actually send the globe. So in the newest Apple OS update you can set the Fn key and there is no longer a need to update the keyboard ID to get all of the Mac keyboard functionality? Worth noting: Apple's been slowly migrating Fn into the globe key. Yes, good point; I believe they are technically the same key, but just printed with a different legend, and at least the Fn key on older Apple keyboards works as the Globe key when plugged into an iPad (for example). That mystery split USB-C cable could be the key... Each controller could spy on the other one's USB traffic, or some wires inside the cable could be routed between both halfs.
Yeah, if split cable means that it connects the two halves in the middle, then of course the cable can be why it works.

it should certainly be possible as I have used split keebs from http://www.rgkbk.net and using split usb-c cables. Regarding the Fn key on split keyboards, I am hoping the QMK and Via experts can see what workarounds are possible, if any. If each half has its own USB cable and shows up as a separate keyboard, the solution would need to be done in the computer side. A hybrid solution would theoretically be possi...
