Re: Great/Interesting Finds

I am a bit curious about the stickers. They could be real. Hard to say with this seller. “Original, vintage NASA decals removed, then replaced after repainting.” “Original” can mean “came on it like that” or can mean “I created them for this keyboard.” “Repainting” implies “painting again” though I...

Maybe appointing mods who have the power to delete/ban would help… KeyboardJoy seemed to agree that moderation is important but hasn’t clicked the button to appoint any yet.

Yeah, it was gone in less than a minute. It was a good deal for an early red-label model.
I read the wiki about the labels for these but couldn't discern what's different between red and not besides the label. Do you know?

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

I tried considering "have your orders in by 1/2/3/4/5 /6/30/ 18/19/20 /21" and "we are still not in the final round, so even with a deadline there would be still some time to order keyboards and accessories afterwards" as equivalent and informative for the consumer while not creating a false sense o...

Fantastic work! I’m looking forward to the day I can torture myself by using a PCjr board with a modern computer. This is really exciting! Being able to use every board in the collection is a goal.

Re: Great/Interesting Finds

Just like a TKL SSK goes for more than a regular M, a Brother buckling spring JIS TKL will go for more as well. This was cool to me, but not $550 cool.

Re: Model M Advice

I did something sort of like this using a couple of tall board game boxes (Yahtzee and Telling Lies) and it was helpful indeed. The struggle came when I had to reach under to push up on the barrel plate to bring it closer to the top of the arch of the back plate. I'm not as dexterous as I once was.....

Re: Model M Advice

The duct tape fix would be the way I'd suggest going... ...Just think of it as two screw mods and align the pieces up when you screw it together. It should work just fine I'd wager that the keyboard would feel perfectly fine after a proper screw mod, crack or no crack. (It'll obviously feel better ...

Re: [WTB] [WTTF] IBM 3279 or rare beamer variant

Great knowledge! Fee like editing the DT wiki? I have the 3279 that looks like a 3278 with keys for the colors that became available on the color display station. The booklet says it’s a 3279. It’s a 3279. Folks associate 9 with lit buttons on top only.

Re: Model M Advice

Barrel plate completely snapped in half while removing it, so there's that... This keyboard uses wire stabs for the numpad. Does the Unicomp barrel plate support wired stabs or do I need to replace these keys to work with barrel stabs?

Re: Model M Advice

If the crack is that bad it's possible the rest of the plate is just as fragile. I think you're on to something there. The crack itself doesn't go all the way edge to edge yet, but it looks as though there are a few others that dream of being cracks when they grow up... Kind of leaning toward repla...

Re: Arthritis - Which layout and switches (need help)

This one might be a little odd, but just consider it. gboards.ca has some split ortho options on the low end of the price spectrum because you've just got a PCB, switches, and caps (unless you elect to buy a case). He has some very light switch options- lighter than what you've listed above. The key...

Model M Advice

Recently picked up a square badge. Opened it up for cleaning and to diagnose why the bottom row was so sad. I have a cracked barrel plate (horizontal crack running most of the length of the space between the Q row and the A row. Only about 5 of the rivets are still intact on the whole board. Do I: 1...
