Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYSWITCH thread

I saw this Texas Instruments Low Profile keyboard on eBay and didn’t recognize the switch. Anyone know what it is?

Re: Interesting Unicomp history

The way it's phrased, it sounds like the same person owned Video Display and Ordway. If it was the same, why are they charging their own company rent in the first place? I wonder if it's an accounting or tax game, moving around losses and forgiveness to create some number palatable to an outside in...

Here’s another idea: a flat plate buckling spring keyboard with specialized sliders or stems that accept cherry caps and a plastic case.

I agree with your philosophy and thankfully Model F keyboards don’t require much maintenance. I bought two F77 keyboards and other than installing the keys, they didn’t require anything else. I took one apart and it was very simple. Only two screws! I prefer DIY and any efforts to keep the costs dow...

Re: Future of DT

I bought Noir and love it! But I like everything dark in low light places and at night. I think it does a perfect job on Deskthority.

I’ve found that dark mode seems to be a generational thing where I work. Older folks aren’t a fan but the younger people love it.

Sure this has been asked, but the thread is getting looong. Is it possible to adapt my m77, adding a split right shift? Involved, I'm sure, but possible?
I don’t think so. The HHKB split right shift has a different barrel plate and probably different PCB than the normal layout.

I bought some switches and caps from him and got similar stuff, along with an invitation to attend a conference where he was presenting on alps switches. The switches were soaked in the “Max-Pro” lube he references and I didn’t like the sound and feel and decided to use them just for spare parts.

I ordered a set of caps from Unicomp back in 2022 and they were the two piece design. It couldn’t hurt to email them and ask if you can’t find a good source.

Ellipse, I thought there was a version of the beam spring case that had a dip in it and that could be used as a pen holder. Is there a version of that case planned or is the one shown the only one available. It doesn’t matter to me if it has it or not but was curious.

The Matias Ergo Pro might be a good option for you. You can get it with quiet click switches which are pretty silent and feel good. Here’s a link to the different versions:
