Re: My new project

This is really beautiful - especially for a programmer, keeper of some farm animals and native Czech speaker at the same time. :) I'm a bit sceptical though. Classic programming we learn will be soon for a bunch of guys writing very specialised code (maybe specific parts of unusual firmware etc.) Fo...

Very nice keyboard! Wonder if the extra space above F-keys row was meant as an area for explanatory stickers/notes or just the style of that era?

Re: Post your keyboard/keycaps!

Function keys have to be there for something , right? As I said launching mastodon apps like Outlook or Teams you typically start just after logging in a don't close them until the shutdown or reboot. Volume Up/Down/Mute Play/Pause/Next/Prev make a lot of sense on easily accessible keyboard shortcu...

Re: Cherry G80-3000 - Missing "classic" bumps on the F, J and 5 keys

When my fingers can't find them, I'll stick something else on there.? For example? :D I had completely levelled homing bars on my last rubber dome keyboard (Microsoft Wired Keyboard 200). Some old stickers for labelling audio cassettes (those tiny square stickers with numbers and letters attached t...

Re: Cherry G80-3000 - Missing "classic" bumps on the F, J and 5 keys

My Cherry G80-3000 S TKL has both - differently shaped F J + homing bars on them. They're slowly disappearing after more than 2 years of daily use. When my fingers can't find them, I'll stick something else on there. I'm a pig - so what?

Re: Retyping Books

All on an IBM Model F. The same one I just went back to a few weeks ago, in fact. I put 20 years on that board before retiring it for a "modern" keyboard in 2008. I unretired it with a thorough scrub and an adapter cable, and it's back on the job. Nice. Getting a used, perfectly cleaned Model F fro...

Not so much a film, but a historic shot from a 1970's - 1980's telecommunication central. Wonder what those huge keyboards are?

I would guess the L stands for a lock but standard three locks are already present.

Re: What was/is the worst keyboard/switch you have ever tried?

It's always fun to see all that Cherry MX hate, LOL. 34 reviews, 5.0 stars, MX Brown... Dell rubber domes in early 2000's were infamous for 'unpressable' keys, except when pressed directly from above (maybe +/- 10 deg). Missing *lmost *ll letters ty*ed by *inikies. Probably the worst keyboards I've ...

Re: Is there something about Cherry MX switches that make them more "clonable" than other designs?

I also feel there’s a lot of snake oil in keyboards, particularly in things like “bouncy keyfeel” or even gasket mounts I doubt really make a massive difference at the end of the day. Lubing should also be more or less irrelevant if manufacturers used slippery plastics on the slider and housing and...

Isn't MX just a "USB" for keyboard switches? The standard seems good enough. Plugging compatible caps or switches of your choice is up to you.
