Thanks for all the great advice. I'll write up something and at some point let you know if there is any progress. I'll look this over again but I tend to agree with those commenting on weight. It's the simplest although he did ask for pics so I'll supply him with something. If nothing else, I could ...

recycling center photo request
Under the pretext that I have some old Dells to dispose of at work I took the opportunity to sweet talked the manager of a pretty large electronics recycling center near me into entertaining the idea of looking out for keyboards. He asked that I email him some photos of what I'm looking for to help ...

Damn. I know this is old, but I'm still messing with my Keycat. Just hooked it up to a computer I needed to get some data from. The CAT led probably indicates that the C1, C2, C3 are active. They appear to mimic the functions of the mouse buttons. C1 is the left click and C3 is the right click. C2 ...

Keycat cleaned and before and after Model 925 whitened. Keys still not there but it was a first and I'm not sure how that works with non-white. At any rate, I was just putting the case in a bath. Keycat works all around. Couldn't really get the spacebar on the 925 right although it's not useable to ...

Interesting … One thing that I've never seen come up anywhere is a serial to USB mouse adapter. It would be a shame to use that Accodata Keycat without having the trackball connected up. I guess serial mice are still supported in Windows with a serial to USB adapter? It would also be a tragic waste...

Middle row, third from the Top. Its an old apple keyboard. It actually feels pretty good. Probably the nicest after the Alps or the springs maybe depending on preference. It's missing the uppermost right key though. I'm having trouble getting the slash to the left of it on correctly after pulling i...

Still haven't tried a buckling spring that I know of unless the old apples in school had them. What do you mean? You've taken a photo of one. I thought those were Brother Switches, not like Model M. Wanted to ask why one is much heavier. Industrial? I took a photo of a SSK but I only had my hands o...

which one is the blue alps?you only showed the close up. Also the top-centre one. His photo numbering is completely out of whack. Is it? The close up, when I did them, precedes the actual keyboard. Backwards from my intention but it was late and didn't want to redo. They are grouped together and if...

The "Model 925" has the same switches as many BBC Micros (it's the " Type 1 " Beeb switch, the most common type). No clue who made it; it's a rock solid reliable medium weight linear switch with a virtually silent downstroke and loud upstroke that gives you a "lagged" sensation (every keystroke emi...

How much was for all of that? Looks great. And OMG Blue Alps!!!! Yes, they definitely feel the best of the lot. I'd never tried them before being fairly new to mechanicals. Still haven't tried a buckling spring that I know of unless the old apples in school had them. $200 :? Wasn't sure if was gett...

Bunch from a storage unit
Wasn't sure what all I was getting. Need a bath obviously. I guess 5 is a Brother Switch. Very heavy. Picked up another IBM not in these shots that's not as heavy but bigger. Same switch.
Not sure about 4. I've seen one posted somewhere. It's stiff and linear.

The mini is RJ 45 though. Not as desirable I'd think. Good shape though. The boards I bought were in bulk. He had 2 like the picture, I can post the other but the keycaps were more standard. Couple of others were interesting but missing cases. I picked up the ones he was willing to sell as a lot. On...

Saw this in a storage unit. Wasn't sure what to make of it. Had some similar stuff. I didn't get pictures of it all. There was an IBM mini attached to a terminal. Wasn't sure if there is interest in those as I understand they don't adapt to modern PC.

Probably not worth updating but keyboard is doing fine. As kalrykh says, trial and error worked it out. The only annoying thing about it is I have to get used to picking the heavy thing up when I need some work space. If I push it the feet collapse because they grip the desk pretty strong. I realize...

on display in store: Siig  Being a noobie, it was kinda funny as I went down the fairly huge aisle of keyboards on display pecking at them and unexpectedly hit the Siig. The rest of them were down at one end and here is this oddball in the middle of the aisle. Had to figure out what it was. ...

I have the same issue in Oregon. Pasadena may have a Fry's around. I"ve found you can try Corsair K60 and K90, Razer Black Widow, Coolermaster Rapid and Quickfire, Steelseries maybe, Siig, and Mionix Zibal 60 at the one here. No Topre or other top brands but obviously you get a mix of switches. Reds...

To be honest ripster, I'm not sure what you are showing me there. You want me to pry it all the way apart with a butter knife? You also seem to want me to flex it even harder. Btw, credit where credit is due. I decided since I wanted to try out some blues, I'd get a Filco based on someone's preferen...

thanks. Doesn't seem to help though. I can definitly see when loosening the screws that the right side bobs up whereas the left pretty much stays in place. I've torqued it beyond the point of safety with no results. Oh it flexed alright. No popping sounds though. I think it might be a little better ...

fixing a wobbly keyboard
So I just brought a new filco majestouch 2 to work. FILCKF15 model. It's replacing a Ducky DK1008 with the green alps. It seems like a fine keyboard. However I noticed right away that the upper right is off the surface a little with or without feet extended so I get some wobble when using keys up on...
