Re: What's your piece of keyboard unobanium?
The two on my list: IBM Model M 1397000 (they seem to have all vanished) IBM Model M industrial SSK ̶I̶B̶M̶ ̶M̶o̶d̶e̶l̶ ̶M̶ ̶1̶3̶9̶7̶0̶0̶0̶ Well, I can cross that off my list. Interesting how it happened, believing I would never find one I jumped on a Lexmark 1369986, so of course two months later ...

Re: Stuff you just bought
Pet peeve: cut keyboard cables. Why? If you're going for real security, you need to completely chop up the keyboard. Well, I guess I'd rather have the cable cut than have no keyboard at all. I have cut off a cable myself. It was too trashed to save, pulled out of the keyboard part-ways and the insu...

Re: How much do you use context menu key?
I use Linux, so all I need to do is right click on the desktop and I get the menu, the context menu is the same - a right click on the file (or whatever) and there it is, does not matter to me if there is a menu key on the keyboard or not. I never even think about the menu key, maybe I should remap ...

Re: Easiest solution for model M
Yes those should be what you need.
orihalcon is a good seller, I have bought several converters from him.
Most people just go with what everyone else calls something, it can help with communication or hinder it.

Re: Model M Cushionless Mod
I would probably cut the cushions away with a needle file instead of clippers.
True, it would be slower and a bit tedious, but not as slow as waiting for some replacement flippers to be shipped to me.

Re: Easiest solution for model M
Looked it up, that came with an 8P8C connector (many call it an RJ45 but it is not) cable.
Fortunately there are converters available for them. Not too expensive.

Re: 2 Model M with same model # but different PCBs?
They show up on eBay from time to time, not new but used in good condition.snufflecat wrote: ↑15 Aug 2021, 17:16Is there anywhere I could possibly buy a new PCB, in stead of trying to find the right cable that goes with the current one?
I have bought two on there.

Re: IBM SSK club!
Well since I have an SSK I can join the club.
Got it on eBay after missing the one made on my birthday (it sold for more than my max bid).
Just an ordinary SSK.
Here is a pic I snagged from the listing:

Re: Model M keymap?
What I was told by the guy that makes the BLUSB controller: The part numbers do not matter. All 1st to 3rd generation Model M keyboards that feature the Enhanced Keyboard Layout (101 key ANSI, 102 key ISO) have the same matrix layout, the membrane sheets are identical. Only the barrel plate is popul...
