I think it would be ok, I have a 3Dconnexion SpacePilot pro for moving around in 3D space, and it has a similar interface. With a design similar to what Lowpoly suggests, you would have 3-4 fingers in contact with the ball at all times, and you would hold it stationary when pushing down, when scroll...

In Norway the € is on AltGr+E, making the £$€ signs grouped together and still pretty logically laid out (on a qwerty layout)

I like the suggestions, Suka. I have used the same layout on my other symmetric stagger board, and I like it like this. And the size will stay the same, as I am using a aluminium 60% case that is made for poker and pure. the idea about using a timeout and the same keys for mouse and keyboard is pure...
