Re: “The Lord Of The M" Controllers (aka TLOTM) - call for ideas
This is a great idea. @ clickykeyboards, we often get inquiries (2-4/month) over the past 20 years from people that are new to the hobby looking to get their 1980s IBM model M keyboards to easily interface with 2024 computers. The other day, I met a Cherry MX enthusiast after work who was picking up...

Re: Source for two-piece Model M keycaps?
I have a Model M in Spanish layout. To fully change it to UK or US International layout I'd need to replace about thirty keycaps, but I could make do with fewer. (I don't mind if Num Lock says Bloq Num instead, but it's annoying to have the wrong punctuation characters in the number row.) The board...

@Rocco. Do you have any information about the provenance (chronology of the custody or previous location of an object) of this model M keyboard? After running ClickyKeyboards since 2004, I have collected some unique pieces from other IBM'ers who worked across IBM factories and distribution facilitie...

Re: Help Dating a Silver Badge Model M
@Rocco, Nice early model M example. Looking at your photos of the controller and keyboard internals, it definitely is an early 1984/1985 model M keyboard. Without the IBM paper labels on the back of the keyboard case or back of the curved plate, it is hard to assign a more specific date. Too bad abo...

Yes, one could take a SDL to dual ps/2 cable keyboard + mouse https://www.clickykeyboards.com/product/model-m-sdl-to-dual-ps-2-cable-keyboard-mouse-used/ and modify the keyboard-facing end of the cable work with the embedded controller inside the model M13. Hello friends! I'm currently looking for someone in the community that offers bolt-modding services (for a fee, of course). Ideally, someone with a lot of experience doing this kind of work. The reason is that I have a New Old Stock IBM Model M13 that I'd like to have bolt-modded (or screw-modded?,...

I second the suggestion that a thorough cleaning and a bolt mod will likely solve your "feel" problems. Do late model m's with a plastic barrel plate not feel worse than early m's? Another variation on a theme. 1-2-3 steel blocks (16 oz, .45kg/each) work well to elevate the internal model M keyboard assembly.
