Re: Need help designing the top part of a case

Laser-cut acrylic is always flat but the Wooting One has a sloping front with the slope starting right in front of the space bar. A laser-cutter cuts always perpendicular to the acrylic's surface — it does not do sloped cuts. This means that as one piece the acrylic sheet would either jut out over t...

Looks like a Dolch computer, but apparently isn't one:

Could very well be the same OEM of the basic parts as Dolch used. Early Dolch keyboards were similar to this one's: with Cherry MX switches and thin pad-printed keycaps.

Re: Question regarding Redragon ARYAMAN K569

Easy? No. You would need to learn soldering and how to desolder a switch — and that is not always easy without damaging the board. The simplest equipment needed would be a soldering iron, a solder sucker and a copper-wire braid, ... unless you would have access to better equipment through perhaps a ...

So sad. Are those Cherry MX Silent Red?

I wonder if the damaged keyboards got chucked because they had got damaged, or only damaged after they had been chucked.

Yep. Key Tronic foam and foil.
A historic computer nonetheless: the first fully compatible clone of the IBM PC and what gave Compaq its name.

I've had a 683 that I sold years ago. I don't remember the switch on the back but maybe it was there.
When I went to a Nasa exhibition, I spotted a whole bunch of these in a training cockpit for the Space Shuttle, but I've never seen them in any official picture of the real thing or simulator.

If the "plate" is the same colour as the top and the "switch" looks pretty clean then it is almost always dome-with-slider.

There are many types of Alps-keycap compatible rubber dome-with-slider keyboards.
This was yet another that I had not seen before.

I heard in a video that Cooler Master would have said at some time that they had planned this keyboard to be wireless. That explains why this keyboard is higher than it needs to be: there is space in the bottom for flat batteries! You can see rectangular brackets for them in Matt3o's video at the 5:...

Re: First time building a keyboard. I'm not good at it. About 6 keys don't work. How do I troubleshoot/debug this?

Your problem sounds like one particular column has a bad soldering joint where it connects to the controller. I had that exact problem on my first build. In your pictures it looks like the solder has not flowed properly down onto several of the pads. It is important when soldering that both metal su...

There is a "bCountryCode" field in the HID descriptor which is downloaded from the keyboard to the host when the keyboard is connected, but I believe that it is unsupported by operating systems because code the code space is badly defined and I think most keyboards are manufactured with their intern...

Does it have to be a PBT space bar in Cherry's cream and grey PBT colours? GMK doubleshots are all in ABS, and I think all their new space bars should support centre stem. Beige space bars are available. I found one here with a little searching. Maybe available closer to home. I don't know if the co...

Most trackpoint modules speak the PS/2 mouse protocol. TMK (and probably also QMK) has PS/2 mouse input support for AVR : with options for three different types of pins (if I remember correctly): UART and not. If I were you, I would: * Try to find a ChibiOS PS/2 mouse input driver, and if that fails...

Cool. I have one and we've seen several others before. There's a bunch of different slight variations listed in the wiki.

I think it is loud keyboard also because there's a lot of empty space inside where the sound from the switches can reverberate.

That size is not in the Wiki. The Wyse keyboards I have seen have used a 8u, 9.75u or 10u space bar.

I think I would prefer this physical layout for 60%. On a 65%, there would be a proper inverse-T arrow cluster, there would be an additional Alt/Opt mirroring the left and Fn would move down. For Windows or Unix, Alt/Opt and Windows/Command could be swapped. hhkbish.jpg On Unix, the Compose key is o...

I was thinking especially about the use of heat instead-of, or in-addition-to UV.
One should take care with heat and ABS plastic though.
