It's a US university. and this is an English speaking website. We have a "Other languages" subforum, and much of the Wiki written in British English. ;) For many of us, English is just the lingua franca of the computing world. Just like Greek was in the Roman Empire and Arabic is in the Muslim worl...

Re: Buckling spring corne?

Yeah, Apple's HID implementation is known to be a bit different, whereas two keyboards should work fine on Windows and Linux. You could 3D print a plastic barrel plates. That'd be the easiest way to get a curve. I think the PCB should also be curved individually per column . You could start by desig...

Re: Joystick Competition Mini w/ Teensy

I wonder how it compares to the Logitech Wingman Attack 3 I picked up years ago. Your Logitech joystick is an analogue flight stick, whereas the Competition Pro Mini is digital, closer to an arcade stick as used for fighting games. I also prefer joysticks over a D-pad or arrow keys: I especially fi...

Re: Nippon Electric (NEC) Extended PC-8801

Nice! Too bad about the plastic damage though. I hope that some that looks like damage is just dirt, and will disappear after a cleaning. The board does not use a commonly-used protocol: although the plug looks like PS/2, it is not, and would require a converter. gainsborough has mentioned that he h...

Re: Is the IBM KB-9910 Good?

From what I can google... it is a Chicony-made rubber dome keyboard.
It is similar to the KB-7953, but a bit cheaper: lacking the KB-7953's metal plate.
I wouldn't bother with it.

Hmm.. So keyboard protocol is useful for game controllers, huh? Which keys did you map?

Re: Dark gray/industrial looking keyboard recommendations?

Have you got it working with another PS/2 keyboard?

The styling reminds me of a Sega Saturn - the grey Japanese model.
The SGI keyboards have a speckled pattern in the grey, so I don't think those would fit.

Your own mods to Bpiphany's? Yeah, the firmware that he originally wrote for Phantom. It was very simple. Much smaller than TMK or QMK. I have also written a USB firmware for a game controller adaptor that shares no code with that, TMK or PJRC's USB code. And I have started on a more generic HID fi...

At home, I still use the Phantom that I built in 2012. Cherry MX Clear with lubrication and silencing clips. Lasered thick-walled Cherry PBT. 6u space bar! Re: Model M Reverb Mod?

I think the floss mod would make the biggest difference. If the floss is just the right length, it removes the "twang" in the switch completely. The floss mod is also reversible. You can't make the click sound more silent though, at least not without affecting the key feel. I've seen someone put she...

Re: DT Update Log and TODO

The wiki works as designed. "NKRO" in the Wiki is a redirect-page, i.e. it redirects to another article. If you get redirected, there is a blurb at the top of the page right under the title with a link to the redirect, so that it can be found and edited if necessary. There are lots of redirects in t...

You will need the lower-profile keys for the M2 though. The regular-sized Model F/M keys are too high.

Re: Keyboard bricks, instant matrix scan and other clacky things

If I recall correctly, you can't get NKRO with charlieplexing. To read the matrix all at once, maybe you could put a different resistor on each column (each twice as the one before) and read each row using analogue-to-digital converters (ADC). However, microcontrollers tend to have only one or a few...

A blog? yeah, I mean it could be just a section of the forum with a slightly different design/theme. If blog at all, then I agree with that. I think a blog should also have a comment section and should be integrated with the regular user account system. Therefore, making it as a special "Articles" ...

This is nothing really new, and always aggravating.
Some sellers also have a "fishing" tactic: start with an initial high price, and lower it only a little every week, hoping that someone who does not know better would bite.

I don't know. I suspect that I could be using the gap between A and Caps Lock for homing the left hand, and proprioception or thumbs touching to align the right hand the right distance from the left.
