Thanks everyone for your kind feedback :) Had a lot of fun building this and even more fun actually using it after all this time. It's obvious a lot to time, effort and enthusiasm went into making this. It is quite a project. Have you thought about infilling the key cap negative legends with some ty...

The SB147. A custom made 2 foot long monster with a complete build log

Image

Obligatory picture first. Had a lot of fun making this bad boy. Customized 100% for myself, everything from the layout to the curve of the keycap profile. Hope you enjoy reading!

Gotcha. Depending on the width of the nozzle it can expand a bit and I forgot to account for that. Assuming you use a nozzle diameter of .4mm, the XY delta between exact measurements and actual results can differ by about 75-ish% of the nozzle width. This new file has the crosses at a width of 1.27m...

I'm a bit late to the party but I took that svg and turned it into an stl for you if you have a 3d printer. Only thing of note would be that it only has 3 of the four MX crosses so you can print it flat for extra strength.

My typing is wrong, and I know it. My home row is basically wherever I have my hands at the time, depending on my posture. Like right now I'm slouched to the left and my left home row is awef and the right is ,l;' Works for me I guess.

I second the motion for an ultrasonic cleaner, if you have one. Personally I like to take them apart and inspect each switch part before tossing them into the ol' vibrating bathtub. That way you can know which things are naffed beyond cleaning and if you need replacements.

Ideal makes logical sense, but wasn't this the idea behind ortholinear boards? Like, making everything accessible to any finger within at least 2 units? Yup, but I'm confining myself here to the regular (staggered, non-split) keyboards. There are, after all, much more of those than there are orthol...

I'm also guessing "voiceless" is a bizarrely random mistranslation of "wireless". I have no mouth and I must scream? :D Really though the design on that looks like the lava filter in gimp. That alt spacebar alt setup is really slick. Managed to put a unicomp 6.25 spacebar on my xt using 3d printed stabs just superglued right onto the plate but never did anything fancy to the space left over. Really nice work!

How about a switch that clicks twice? Once to provide auditory feedback, another one to make sure you heard it, then actuate at the bottom. It's like 100% more click per click.

This layout is created with maximum logic in mind, and high productivity will result from it. Very, very cool! The material we like the best of all is PBT. I know next to nothing about 3D printing, though, so I don't know if there's something fundamentally incompatible with the stuff. The fact it's highly resistant to wear (and shining) perhaps suggests it could be a total pain in the jacks...

Actually I'm a systems administrator for a living, and this is more of a hobby but thank you! Been doing 3d work on the side for a while now. I'm using PLA for this, nothing fancy. The caps were designed from scratch with three things in mind: 1. Simplicity (as far as the amount of polygons go) 2. Strength (mostly just the middle stem) 3. Needed to be able to print upside down for a flat surface The lower polygon count was mostly a thing for myself to facilitate ease of use wh...

Hey Soarer. Just wanted to thank you for your awesome work. I finally got my baby to work on my new computers. :D Just a few questions about key remapping. How would I match up the codes for scan set 3 ( http://www.seasip.info/VintagePC/ibm_1390876.html ) to your codes listed in the 'codes' section ...
