Oh hey, they reinvented Fujitsu Peerless switches? wiki/Fujitsu_Peerless

It's interesting to see that they actually added a clicker in this switch.

Re: Is there something about Cherry MX switches that make them more "clonable" than other designs?

Talking about Cherry clones: has anybody been crazy enough to clone MX Clears? I suppose you intended to be snarky, but I also don't know how ignorant you are: There are several options for "Ergo Clears" with lighter springs that lack the scratchiness and tight keycap mount of real Clear — but I've...

... picking up a square little MX tester and knowing instantly which one has your feel. (So long as you like scuffy, scuffy with a scratch, or scuffy with a chintzy click: the MX world’s your oyster.) Talking about Cherry clones: has anybody been crazy enough to clone MX Clears? Re: 64 Bit Soarer's Tools for Mac

Then why does the wiki say that the package is closed source? The controller / converter firmware is definitely closed source because we don't have its source files at all. The tools had their sources released for exactly this scenario where an OS upgrade would make binaries stop working. However, ...

Re: New Model F not putting out (key presses)

But why does the guide suggest holding the board vertically? By default most of my springs were seated well (with a few exceptions), but when you have the board do anything except lie horizontally it makes those springs stand directly out of the keyhole like little rows of uniform soldiers. Obvious...

It's odd thoough - the XTs I'm seeing on ebay all seem to be way more than $100. I've seen quite a few & I'm not seeing them go any where near as cheap as that yet. Perhaps I haven't been looking long enough - or could it be that the prices have taken a upward turn in recent times? https://www.ebay...

And like it or not, the Black Widow is what you have to "thank" for the modern resurgence of mechanical keyboards but that's a different post for a different topic. Re: IBM XT F space bar removed...

Disassembling the whole keyboard is the classic way, but it's not for the faint of heart because then the spacebar keycap will compress its switch plate and give you trouble to close things again (though I wrote an article back in the day how to work around that with some fishing wire). Meanwhile so...

Whatever you do, don't pull off a model F's spacebar though, either you will need to disassemble the entire keyboard or carefully mod your spacebar keycap before it will be able to be properly seated again.

Model M switches are ~10 grams heavier than Model F switches IIRC. Really? They feel lighter to me? Cheers, --Given The model F springs are lighter. The reason that the model M springs were changed is because they need to press hard enough on the membrane contact layers when the spring has buckled....

About the flipper, could it be that it doesn't work perfectly because the spring is not seated correctly on the little stem? When the spring buckles, it applies a "moment" (not sure if the translation is correct), and if it is not seated firmly, the buckling doesn't translate in a "moment" acting o...
