This is a small size experiment piece I made for playing around with tolerances for a cherry MX plate from laser cut wood.

Were you thinking of having it entirely flat then? Because I like the back of the keyboard to have a little height to it.

I guess you could add little legs to give that height, but design it to be as slim as possible.

I laser cut some back panel pieces for this yesterday. It matches the iMate case I made, and the media tags.

Here are a couple of pictures showing off the mod.

The advantage to using an external controller is that it reduces the need for for people to do surface mount soldering.

I reckon the extra cost would balance out either way. Its just a case of finding someone who would do that.

Ok, cool 299mm wide is just within the scope of the size I can cut myself, so I am happy to prototype this. I will likely have to order some 1.5mm acrylic though. My standard material to use is 3mm for both acrylic and ply. However I know we can get up to 6mm deep on acrylic only.
(Though the laser cutter needs a bit of upkeep to get back to that point.
