Re: Find spares parts from old keyboard

You could try to find a winkeyless Cherry G80-3000 keyboard with Cherry MX switches and use the innards plus the missing keycaps.

Re: What is with the cherry G81 misprints?

I had one G81 3000 HAD with black MX switches.
The FCCID on the left contained G80-3000.
What is the FCCID on yours?

Is this Cherry Olympia clear? I don`t think the Carrera II comes with the clear linear Cherry switches. They are used in the Carrera and Carrera SI, but those can also come with Marquart 6180 switches. My guess is that the Olympia Cherry switches where adapted to meet the Marquart 6180 specificatio...

the hollow guides for the stabilizers might be loose on the plate or missaligned, check if they sit well on the plate and grease them.

desolder all the switches first, lift off the pcb and push the switches out of the plate one by one. i don´t know of a way to avoid breaking some of the wings.

Wow, what a find! What date codes are there on the typewriter? If Mitsumi made the PCB, it should have a date label on it. Also, what codes are there on the PCB? I am hoping that there is something resembling known [wiki]Mitsumi model numbers[/wiki] that would give us the series name of the switche...

i would never use alcohol to clean plastic because it can damage the plastic surfaces.
if you really need to use a solvent to get rid of sticky or oily residues you should first try with dish soap dissolved in lots of water and if necessary put some drops of alcohol into the solution.

Anyway, even on such a small pic the font (not the keyboard, of course) is clearly recognizable as Cherry.
Want to take a bet on that?
I bet those aren't original Cherry. Look at the German specific keys and how bad they are printed.
