Re: New Member, Need some advice

@Holymnky: Welcome to Deskthority (DT)! I have enjoyed the mechanical keyboard hobby for quite a few years, and my collection includes many varieties of switch types, keyboard sizes and form factors, keyboard layouts, and keycap compositions and colors. In my own case, I prefer a 60% form factor, HH...

Very nice picture! What clickleaves did you use, white ALPS?
Yes. I edited the post to indicate that I used top housings and leaves from white Alps switches. The pic was taken before the transplants were done.

Re: Share Your SEXIEST Vintage Boards!

Newest pick-up that I thought would make a nice addition to this forum. This is a ZKB-2, but unfortunately with the ugly Bull badge rather than the lightning Z one. The chassis is awesome though. This one has Yellow Alps. Zenith made some good boards. Among them, I like the 163-73 variant of the ZK...

Unfortunately, the SSK Blue printed keys did not work well for me, and I anticipate that the dark gray printed keys would likewise not work for me. However, this is probably due to my vision issues and the dim lighting I use in my study. I just need more contrast between the background and the print...

This morning, I completed a floss mod on my ultra-compact-case F62, which I've dubbed "f62". This time, the job went much faster, because I had previously cut the floss into 15 mm pieces using a single-edged razor blade and a strip of boxwood marked with lines spaced 15 mm apart. Good to see people enjoying vintage Zenith boards. The black label on them is a retro aesthetic delight, and the layout lends itself fairly well for programming my favorite layout -- HHKB. The PrtSc key is perfect as Fn, and the oversized Right Bracket can serve as the Backspace (although this makes...

Correct. If you push real hard though, you can just about move the goalposts wherever you need them. Even the humble XT isn’t as cheap as it used to be, of course. An F is an F. Anyone know IBM’s original selling price for them? Not sure if XT keyboards were sold separately -- they were bundled wit...

I saw a QF Rapid and a QF Stealth recently on eBay (US) for quite reasonable prices, considering that these keyboards have apparently been discontinued and all the vendors I've looked at are sold out. Shipping to the UK along with the import tax might add quite a lot to the cost, however.

Of course, it's the inside of a violin. I've often thought it would be good to create a keyboard case with a resonating chamber and a moveable sound post, like that found inside a violin, for tuning the acoustics.
