Haven't you been a busy little beaver. That's awesome progress, and great ideas on the case finishing options. Just curious, how many of these could be made in a week without sacrificing quality of the product, or (more importantly) your quality of life?. Thanks! Well, once all the hard parts are o...

Oh! Oh! By chance is the laser engraver capable of doing metal...? I'd be curious if you could modify the top of the front, eliminate the oval, or do something like what's in my avatar but with MMF. Or better yet - customizable. Can I get one in green metal flake resin? How about a faux marble look?...

Oh! Controllers. Have the PCBs arrived from OSHPark? I got the USB pigtails from wcass. I still need to inventory what components I still have on hand, but the sooner I can get to soldering these little fellas the better. (Also, do we have a status of the other port options? If we want to merge our ...

That is gorgeous! OK. Small status update is due I suppose. Plaster bandages will be arriving today so that I can re-do the support shell with better material. Once that dries I'll do another casting. With the better support I'm 99% certain I'll end up with something I'm quite happy with. Once happi...

Teehee! Otay. This is enough for now. I have lots of other things to finish up before I continue messing with this.

But I'm feeling pretty optimistic about it.

I'm eager to see the results 15 hours from now. The future is NOW thanks to impatience! ;P The cure time for this resin is 16 hours... but when I noticed the excess had solidified enough I couldn't help myself. I figured I'd still have issues to sort out and it wouldn't be perfect so I just ran wit...

USB-C Sub-boards came in from OSHPark. I think I have a new favorite USB connector. :X 2016-09-03 00.11.08.jpg Additional update: I stumbled over hooks in TMK and managed to cobble together some code to tell the Bluetooth module to disconnect 5 minutes after the last keypress, and reconnect when a k...

So, I think the good mojo helped... ^_^ This resin is low durometer and semi-rigid and I didn't bother degassing it so there are a lot of bubbles, but I didn't care because I just wanted to see what problem areas I might run into with the mold... Plus, it was the only resin I had on hand at the time...

So - I've just about got my new style lock indicator LED setup up to par. Instead of the annoying and time consuming way I did it before (very thin wires soldered to surface mount leds attached to custom mylar holders) the new way uses thin flexible circuits. Thin wires will still be needed, but won...

Awww... now I feel bad. Well... perhaps I might do that again just for the bare PCB, but a "kit" is, well... Actually, it's not that huge of a deal. I could just put up a shared Mouser order sheet and people could place their own separate order. Anyways, I'll toy with that a little more at some poin...

Ooooh, there's some heavy forward thinking! Definitely beyond my current understanding of things, but I LOVE modular designs and that sounds keen. For the sake of relative simplicity, using the AT90USB1286 in a future revision would leave ample amounts of expansion at an increased cost of about $6 a...

Welllllllll... Basic functionality would likely be possible. The 32U2 only has two unused pins (B3 and C2) which could probably be swapped to free up D3 and D2 for UART. But then no pins are left to check for battery level, flow control, and other useful related control (depending on the BT module u...

I think laser cutting neoprene might be dangerous? I remember reading about it a while ago... here we go.: Neoprene is (or contains)* a chlorinated compound and will release hydrogen chloride (hydrochloric acid as a gas) when broken down by heat in just the same way as PVC does. (Also, @lot_lizard: 2x thickness? I don't think that will comfortably fit inside the SSK case without modification. It's already a tight tolerance in the bottom clasp area. I am having 2x thicker backplates made, countersinking the screws to the original depth. It will take a couple weeks before the machine shop has something for me to report. Alright! If we think of the spreadsheet as a big dart board, and your shop date as a dart, you're guaranteed to hit within a two month area in relation to the case date. :P The formula brought three of them super close, basically to the same week. Otherwise, there's about a month variation, especial...
