What kind of sick bastard decides to put Fn-keys next to space bar? And on both sides? Please.

Nice post. You should try using two guitar picks to open the housing, it's much easier than toothpicks.
Plenty of guitar picks in the house, I will try with them the next time!

Re: ISO users

I'm originally an ISO user but I converted to ANSI because I felt it'd open up some keyboard possibilities. Now I just use ANSI layout even on my ISO boards. Life is good.

Alps ultrasonic cleaning

Hi, I thought I'd share my experience on cleaning some Alps switches with ultrasonic cleaner. This isn't going to be filled with exact timings or scientific measurements, just overall feelings about the whole process. Couple of months back I bumped on Apple M0118, for which I built a converter and g...

Re: What's up with Alp SKCM Blue being so hard to find?

Consider this as well, buying NOS blue alps, or any NOS switch for that matter, is putting yourself in a dilemma: do you use the switches making them not NOS anymore, or do you preserve their NOSness and never use them just to say that you have them? From my point of view, what's the point of havin...

Isn't the non-black Realforce more white than beige despite what some product descriptions say? If someone asked for the color of my Realforce, I'd say it's white.

Here it is on a white table:

So, my adventures into the weird realm of xkb aside, keycaps: I've had a quick look around and it's looking like I may still be in a similar situation to where I was with my Model M, which is that custom keycaps aren't really a thing. Don't worry, the Matias switches hold on to the caps so tightly ...

I had (have) the KBP V80 with Matias Quiet Clicks. I had couple of switches chattering after some time of use. One of them died completely and no magic trick like opening up the switch and cleaning them helped. I returned it for repair, and it worked for some time until the problems started again. T...

It has choices in visual aesthetics that I find very easy to disagree with, but I can't say it's downright ugly. What I mean is that if there are people who like it, I can believe them if they say so and get on with my life after hearing it.

Don't know if I'd put MX blues to the top but they are indeed bad and surely one of the most overrated switches. Which would be another nice top X list in itself.

So I bought a keyboard

I found myself an old Commodore PC keyboard. For some reason, I thought I was buying this: https://deskthority.net/wiki/Commodore_PC-10_keyboard while in reality, what I would get was this: https://deskthority.net/wiki/Commodore_PC-5/PC-10_keyboard The differences in the appearance are obvious, so I...

I'd look up Matias Quiet Clicks. They are not clicky, even if the name has 'click' in it. They have nice tactile bump and they are really quiet. KBP has boards with them and Matias themselves of course.
Others too maybe, don't remember.

Cannot praise the Monterey K108 enough, it's just that awesome! I feel happy for everyone who has this board (or any board with the blue smk switches). With a Realforce 105 and a model M it makes a perfect family and I've now settled on these three boards as well :) (read: until next christmas :P)
