Very sharp Wobbled. I'm thinking I could do with a larger, heavier linear keyboard than my current pure pro red and though I might be able to trade you ;)

I don't want this to derail into a debate over ANSI-vs-ISO, but what is so dislikable about ANSI? Suppose for a moment that there was a New ANSI, with AltGr in the R-Alt position (or configurable to L-Alt, or both, or neither), no Windows logos on the App/Super/Meta/whateveryoucallit key, and no ME...

Few more questions - could a wood mounting plate work, or no plate at all? AFAIK both of those should be fine right?

My research informs me the phantom tkl is a good choice, affordable and nice. I generally don't go for such large keyboards but I think it will be nice. I'm having trouble finding any cases though, do you know anywhere to buy cheap cases or should I buy some wood and screws? Also, is the teensy 3.2 ...

Wow, that's.... Unique. I'm curious as to how the linux media keys are supposed to work. To the best of my knowledge there is no native media key support in USB HID standards?

From PCB up? That's one of my plans, but I'm not exactly a craftsman - anything I produce would be of low quality at best. I'd rather something nice with a teensy stuck in the case somewhere or some such thing.

do you have any examples of linux keyboards? I've never heard of such a thing, unless you mean ones which have penguins instead of flags on mod4/super/winkey?

Best MX keyboard to replace the controller for a unix keyboard?

The title summarizes it pretty nicely - I've been running a HHKB and I adore the layout but I'm not a topre lover - I'd prefer a MX board. What keyboards are easy to replace the controller on, plain looking with PBT caps? I'm agnostic on formfactor and which MX switch is utilized.

Oh no the plums do still use rubber domes except they are so light you don't feel any tactility. They just collapse very lightly. They are much smoother than reds and have a softer landing if you bottom out. I personally hate reds, and blacks more so. They wont be your cup of tea if you like heavy ...

Get a plum 35g topre clone, there's literally no tactility at all. It's just a very smooth linear switch. That's cool, I didn't realize they were non-domed capacitive switches. I thought they were just literal clones. How do you rate the feeling in comparison to red and black? I prefer a heavier sw...

Wobbled, do a full flop front row, looks amazing. My next plan is to decide how to make a mx hhkb. I think I may end up diy-ing a wood case and wood plate, and direct soldering wires to switches. Long term I want linear capactivies. But I don't know enough about capacitance to know where to start, a...

alright, I have dental banded my hhkb. It's a sidegrade. The sound is mostly improved, it's really rather quiet now, but it also has a touch of reverb where before there was none. I'm not sure what the cause is on that front, it may have just been I didn't notice it. To an extent I liked the snappy ...

In regards to number 5, the shape of the nnumpad enter will probably be wrong. Compare 2u backspace shape with nnumpad enter and nnumpad plus.

That's the traditional sun layout, personally I prefer no caps at all, but on a 105 key, full featured is the goal, so it's a good suggestion.

New layout! UNIX 105 key.

Hai guys, I made a layout! My first iteration was a HHKB for ISO keys, but here is a full 105 key: http://prntscr.com/g29hdw Please take a look and tell me what you think! The idea is that it offers full ISO functionality while retaining the best bits of ANSI - Enter, shift, and the best bits of UNI...

I just did a direct compairson of my old red poker pro to the hhkb, side by side. The red is quiter, but the topre has a nicer sound. the topre PBT caps are miles better than the shitty ABS caps on the pure pro; this is the only keyfeel improvement the topre offers. even with the overly light keyswi...

ahah, I'll keep you in mind bro. Idk, My opinion on topre swings like the wind. It is in theory most of the things I dislike the most in a keyswitch - short throw, lumpy feeling, very low weight to the bottom... but at the same time sometimes I don't utterly despise it. I never like it though. And i...

Re: Just some pics of an old HHKB.

Also the pro's drivers gave me trouble on install, I had to burn the windows default drivers and jump various hoops to get it working. Never experienced this issue before, did this happen on every machine you connected the pro 2 to or just one? Just the one, but I will caveat that by saying it was ...
