Re: Whatever happened to ________?

Whatever happened to me? Well... Real life is as terrible as ever. Not much else to elaborate on. I'm sure other people can relate.

For what it's worth, Matias just made an update in the 60% thread on Geekhack that PBT keycap creation is finally finishing up. I'll believe it when I see it, but I actually believe that he is close. Dyesubbed? Yeah and he said that they should fit most layouts and will be sold separately. Hopefull...

Keyboards have become a money making scheme to a lot of people which really ruins the fun for us nerds. I dont live near any recycle centres so the best chance I have of getting cheap mechanical boards is via ebay, and that place is plagued with reddit guys looking to profit from boards they got fo...

How much would a Japanese AEK go for these days? I remember selling my NIB JP version for $100 a few years ago but it seems AEKs have gotten more expensive for some reason.

Imagine that. This is the first time I've logged in for a couple of weeks. For some reason I don't have a whole lot of desire to visit anymore. That's not to say anything about Deskthority, it's still my home, but I suppose keyboards just don't mean as much to me anymore.

G'Day DTers, AT Mechaincal Keyboards website noticed they are selling a variety of newly made Alps switches and here is the precise list of what they are selling there; ALPS KSB-C (never heard of it before). ALPS Brown (comparable to the old Browns sold on Flebay, have no idea) ALPS Red (Guessing i...

These are somewhat common. It's probably an Acme K8, though this one looks ever so slightly different than the usual one. There is an incomplete entry on the wiki for it.

There's no keysets currently manufactured to replace these with. You could do about 90% with one of Tai Hao's keysets though.

I'm just old enough to have experienced the rise and fall of MySpace; before then I was quite active on forums and I think the first forum I ever joined was Gamewinners back in late 1999 or 2000. On most forums I've never been quite as active as here though, I can only count a handful where I have m...

I find myself visiting less and less. I don't look for old gear much anymore and my perspective of "friendly keyboard community" has been rather ruined as of late. Less so of DT, but both Geekhack and Reddit make me feel like an outsider despite having been around for many years. Matter of fact, I'm...

I don't follow the strict guidelines of each finger belongs to a particular set of keys but I do avoid moving my hands as much as possible. I'd say I type about 40% with my left hand and 60% with my right, but I think that that's more a function of having the navigation cluster on the right side of ...
