The Logitech UltraX sure has fans. I know a couple of programmers who only use that one. It is low profile but doesn't have flat chiclet keys. The old one does that is. The new ones with backlighting have terrible keys and quite the bad reputation. I liked the feel of the old one actually. It remai...

Semi active at least. I don't have a Topre board unfortunately. I made some caps with Topre mounts based on measurements, and I also made some MX-Topre adapters a few years back, but I never really tried them as extensively as I would have liked. The MX caps have reached a very nice fitting since I ...

[Suggestion] Change a particular image to clearify
http://deskthority.net/wiki/File:CherryMxPlatePcbMounted.jpg The above image is supposed to depict the difference between plate-mounted and pcb-mounted Cherry MX switches, and indeed they do. They unfortunately also differ in that the pcb-mounted example also has a jumper wire installed which really...

Yeah, when they add conductive adhesive there is a jump in price it seems. There ought to be some cheapo Chinese manufacturer of it though if one can find itt. OOOOH! IDEA! The ribbons are longer than needed, so you might be able to chop off the ruined end and remove the conformal coating. Only prob...

Hi damorgue! I don't much understand what the problem is, but I've got 2 innards of Model Ms (one IBM and one Lexmark). Let me know what you need. Does anyone know if there are any differences is placement of rivet holes in different versions of the Model M? This remains unanswered. If it doesn't f...

Yeah, I had it all screwed up together when I decided to clean the contacts. I am in EU, but I'll check with Unicomp if they can help. I could probably arrange a proxy if they want to be annoying. 7bit has offered innards but they will probably be expensive to ship with the plate, and a lot of work ...

That was exactly my thoughts matt3o. It can't be that hard to fix, but I have since then changed my mind a bit. Although conductive ink/tape would probably work and not require me to undo the bolt mod, it is somewhat expensive. After checking around a bit, I haven't found any cheap sources for condu...

Well, the traces don't appear to be very metallic unlike all other ribbon cables I have encountered. I don't think the solder would wet well to these, and I don't know how the temperature might affect the plastic either which is why I eliminated solder. Thanks for the suggestion though, I will keep ...

I made a mistake restoring a Model M
I have boltmodded a few Model M's now, but this time I screwed up. It had exceptionally oxidized connectors on the ribbon cables, even after rubbing them they were still quite dirty. I just so happened to have a bottle of acetone right in front of me on the desk which I use to clean stuff with. So I...

I'm guessing there's not much (or any) of a volume discount with this kind of work? Because the kind of metal caps I'd like are a full set with embossed legends. But likely not at currently reachable prices! Unfortunately not. I began printing a set through work, which was free, but I never finishe...

Really nice, especially the metal makes them true eye-catchers! What tools did you use for the voronoi shapes? I tried with blender and some plugins a while ago, but did not get such nice shapes without lots of fine-tuning. Blender without plugins can do it too :) how much a keycap like that would ...

Then I'd like to officially request it. Edit: I think it is an easily motivated feature, it can make threads less cluttered, while still allowing for larger images if someone wants to enlarge it and look at some details. Unlike spoiler where the images are hidden, it can also provide a good overview...

[Suggestion/help to find] Scaling of images in BBCode
BBCode specifies this to be the way to scale images, but it doesn't seem work. I can't seem to get it to work at least. Full version: [img width={width} height={height} ...]{url}[/img] Another variant (shorthand): [img={width}x{height}]{url}[/img] I have had issues with it in the past but where I en...

That was the problem I had when I tried them — it was like moving to a really bad scissor switch, squishy with short travel. The O-rings undermine the advantages of using Cherry MX switches in the first place. I too have hated all O-rings and foam pads I have tried since they make the switches feel...

Any news? I am guessing that once the order is placed it will take a few days to jdcarpe, then a week from jdcarpe to you, and then a few days for you to arrange shipping, get quotes, get paid etc, and another few days for them to get to people in EU. Is it a reasonable estimation that EU folks wil...
