Re: Some of my best finds from Computer Reset

Why would you not be let back in? Just you or anyone?

It's 7 hours of driving just to check it out, so, I'll probably sit this out.

Sure, come see the collection. Bring a camera. Most of it is in storage at the moment.

Re: Some of my best finds from Computer Reset

Elecplus I still have that Unsaver on my shelf, it's part of my permanent collection. Thank you again for it. Redmaus, I'd consider a trip up myself if I didn't think it would be a complete waste of time. It's hard to know if you cleared out many of the keyboards or if there is still more being unco...

Redmaus claims to have gotten some stuff here. Redmaus, what did you get, and what can you tell us? I assume everything is long gone at this point.

Yes I did
Yeah it's a shame I didn't get up there. I have too much stuff already. Though it's been a while since I found a pre-1988 Model M in the wild, those are always a welcome find. Anyway, GLWS.

Re: Krytox Oils for linear Switchers - where to buy from Germany?

Finish Line Extreme Fluoro is a lightweight fluorinated grease that is very similar to Krytox. Specifically, it's manufactured by DuPont, with a slightly different formulation. http://www.finishlineusa.com/products/bicycle-greases/extreme-fluoro-grease It tends to run about 20 USD for 20 grams, far ...

Re: Univac Keyboard (Micro Switch)

Does NKRO even matter if the switches are not "held". You would need to press down more than one switch in exactly that one little moment of the pulse to have any conflicts. You will not get any key combinations on the alpha keys, nor repeat for holding keys, but rollover and ghosting should not be...

Re: Univac Keyboard (Micro Switch)

Take a look at the Wiki, there is a description of Micro Switch part numbers there. Sound like you have "pulse" type switches for the alphas and "hold" type switches for the mods. This was typical, and is super crappy. 1KRO it is. It will suck for typing, but, you'll have the true 1970s-80s terminal...

Re: Modern Beamspring? - The Silo Beam Switch

Oh, good, this is public now. I've already commented on the board itself. It incorporates about 90% of the feedback from the XMIT Hall Effect boards. I wouldn't do analog sense but HaaTa has wanted to do it for ages. The switch as you see is made by Kaihua. The story here is that at CES in 2018 I br...

You can do this. The other simple solution is to just have each Hall sensor drive a FET and then scan it like a plain old matrix.

Re: Alps ultrasonic cleaning

Yeah, I've done this a bunch of times. You can clean the switch top housings and the tactile leaves as well. But be really careful to not lose them. I wouldn't bother with the contact plates, or trying to separate them from the bottom housings. If you want to clean those last two components, I'd use...

I haven't checked the design in a while but this was built from the ground up to address all the concerns I had with the APT manufactured boards. Stabilizers and rattle were among those concerns. Firmware and programmability were the other big ones.

No, I haven't tried one yet. With a third kid here - and a crummy job, which I recently quit - I've not had time to do this design justice myself. I know the IC crew and worked with them to spec out what this board could be. If and when I can get my hands on one I'll do a proper review. I can't say ...
