Re: Beam spring restoration: fixing the white whale (Displaywriter)

Just wanted to give ohaimark a shout out as I start restoration of two Beamsprings here, a small and a big 3278. One is in great condition, the other will need a new foam sheet. Thanks!

Re: House mites (Glycyphagus domesticus) - Anyone else had them?

We had these a while ago when a slice of bread went unnoticed in the back of the cupboard a while back. The answer was to pull everything out of the kitchen, toss away any unsealed food, and bleach everything daily until the mites were gone. Took about 10 days. Good luck.

I too enjoy pizza from time to time. Here's a simple Pizza Napoletana. IMG_20191013_180110.jpg What temperature was your oven? It looks pretty good, but I don't understand how the cheese could get burnt while the crust looks like it spent too long on too low a heat. 545 F, but the pizza stone had c...

Re: Suggestions needed for cleaning an old keyboard

For basic cleaning I've had luck with a melamine foam pad, e.g. "Mr. Clean Magic Eraser" in the US. It's a strong, but brittle, abrasive. I would try this both wet and dry on an inconspicuous region of the board to see what it does. In combination with various cleaners (such as "Simple Green", https...

Yeah, this should be in the Vendors section. "mech greenhand" is a Plum vendor based in China. Apart from this maybe being in the wrong place, I can't say anything bad about "mech greenhand" or these Plum keyboards (except that 35g is too light for my tastes).

Re: Problem with IBM Model F AT - all LED lights light up, no key output

kmnov2017 sent a PM requesting help. When building a Soarer's converter from a Pro Micro, some temperamental boards require a roughly 10K pullup resistor on the converter to handle reset correctly. I recall a couple of keyboards benefiting from this addition but cannot recall if the Model F AT was a...

Re: [WTS] LOWER PRICE modded realforce 101

Mechlube 2 is thick stuff. It can really gum up switches. I've had the best luck applying it, then wiping off as much as possible with a cotton swab. What is left behind is just a super thin layer of Teflon and just enough grease to allow the Teflon to stick to the plastic. Maybe this helps!

No import taxes for keyboards from Europe to the US. No VAT, no customs fee, none of this. Have the sender complete the customs declaration as they would anyway.

Source: multiple keyboards received from Russia, Ukraine, France, Germany, the UK.

Re: Are there any benefits to having a mechanical keyboard if you're not a heavy gamer or aren't a power user

The reason I have a nice keyboard is because it makes me want to type on it. I spend so much time at the keyboard, and use it to do so much, that having a nice one just makes life happier. I also like having a keyboard that won't break or wear out, and that I can repair easily if it does. To some ex...

Re: [Done] CommonSense controller - better capsense!

I've had mixed success with VirtualBox and firmware flashing for other projects. One is what I suspect is a timing issue. The other is that sometimes the USB target device to be flashed will change its USB identifier suddenly. Sue VirtualBox can be set up with rules to capture said devices, but it h...

The contacts corrode. Try pressing keys down and wigging so as to exercise the crosspoints. Surface corrosion comes off with exercise. You can try electronic contact cleaner, it's often just isopropyl alcohol and propellant.
